Thread: Harvesters Move Again!

OMG I must be really dense! I never saw it in any patch notes, when did harvesters actually start moving again? This is soooo cool! (Yes I know I am way too excited about this) I may actually pick up artisan again (not kidding, really considering).

I mean like in the mineral mining instillations and all the personal harvestors the heads go up and down. They stopped the animation a while ago for lag reasons I guess, but it seems to be back now!

Personally, I'd rather see the harvesters inching their way across Dantooine or something ... make sure you visit every few days or it might wander off on you!

Actually the harvester animation started back with publish 11 and JTL

A new schematic for "Harvestor Surveying Tool" must be added.
And yay, I'm glad I didn't just imagine this. It really took a lot of the immersion away when harvestors stoped moving.

I am so happy this finally got turned back on. I was disappointed when it goit shut off. Although it made harvester maintenance easy.

I think having it on is easier for maintainence. Just fly by on your swoop, if the heads are moving you are good to go...If not something is wrong, wether it be a resource shift or lack of maint or power.
Also, today I saw a solar gen. As it came into view, it reoriented itself in two axis (spun, then tilted). When I took a closer look, I realized it had oriented itself towards the sun is the sky!! Cool!!
So I didn't quit pick up artisan again...but I did put harvestors back down today.

Yea the animation was broken during the architect upgrade long ago, november of last year actually. I know which developer it was but I won't mention him here even though I think the patch was extremely sloppy. The patch that implemented experimentation on harvesters.The broken animationwas never fixed because another bug was introduced at the same time that was much worse, the one that kept increasing maintenance cost every time the harv was re-deeded. So to make a long story short a year later I guess someone finally decided to fix the animation bug. It's been broken twice so far and fixed twice now.
