Could someone please explain to me why you get SURVEYING XP for sampling rather than SURVEYING??????? I must say this is one of the most retarded xp floops ive seen in the game so far.

Probably because that's just the way they chose to name it. They could have just as easily named it sampling XP, but for whatever reason chose not to. Since there's no XP gained from just surveying you can honestly use the terms almost interchangeably; people will understand what you're talking about. The only reason I make it a point to differentiate at all is because it confuses newbies. All in all I agree with you, it would have made things much less confusing for beginning artisans if they'd just named it sampling XP.

Perhaps cause surveying includes sampling.. especially at the begining cuase you have to survey, and then move to a high % spot to beable to sample in the first place.. Surveying with out sampling is about as usefull as getting doctor buffs to sit in a cantina and talk..
if you survey and dont sample you will never know what you have just surveyed for.Thats why there are survey mission terminals. You pick a mission go find a nice location and then sample what you found.. thats the way the XP works. Its working as designed. I wrote an artisan grindfaq in an other thread,, but even though i did that with the crafting part it took me almost a month to get surveying 4.. it would ahve been a day had i just macro'd it but why bother i used it as its supose to be used.. I would survey find a nice % one high enough i could sample then go of and survey to find the highest possibl location to drop on..
