I think power ups for speeders would be a nice addition to crafting, things to help acceleration top speed and boosters (maybe terrain neg but that seems broken).
A mass system could be used aswell like X34s and AV-21s can be fitted with the most stuff and swoops the least.
If they could change appearance too it would be even better. Would help long trips but might make swoop tracks a little harder.

I was thinking about something like this on my last trip out to Jabba's place.....
But I was thinking that it would be great to be able to strap on of Level 6 Starfighter engins on my AV-21 hehehe
Your idea is much more practical!
A couple use Booster pack would be a sweet add on. great way to impliment Wepons to our mounts as well!!

I remember hearing about a programatic speed-cap on speeders a while ago. About the same time the AV-21's were being talked about. The basics of it is: any more speed on a swoop or AV-21 would be faster than the server could handle. That's why an AV-21 is not faster than a Swoop, but just has better terrain negotiation.
I do however like the idea, if it is possible. A terrain negotiation powerup would be much appreciated, and add some more value to the Artisan profession.

That would make sense because to much speed leads to rubberbanding usually

Yea there aer speed caps, but an easy way to change this would be reduce the over all speed and then make add-ons
LIke
engine, faster engine, exp lines are top speed and terrain neg.. master aritsan, uses architect power cores
booster, a quick burst that recharges like ships. Shipwright
armor. Beef up the armor on vehilces, armorer made
shield gen, i really would love this to keep from getting picked off by sniper tuskens, armorer made
mask scent, think of a canopee or scent nuetralization like arm it with camo kits made by a ranger and the vehicle dispences like a droid works
weapons, i know there has been issues with kiting on this one but still it dont seam right my speederbike with out weapons, weaponsmith made
survey attachment, let my droid survey while he rides shot gun, enginering 4
Auto pilot, aka a seat for my droid, aritsan made engineering 4
Storage compartment, uses droid storage compartment
Main computer, uses droid data pad
All these would not fit on one vehicle but a mass system and load system like starships, Some things wouldnt fit in some vehicles, like weapons in a landspeeder, or survey attachment on a swoop or speeder bike.

There's already an acceleration powerup for vehicles, it's called Force Sensitive

Unfortunatly your right Erazor. As much as i want to fight the whole rubberbanding swoop thing. They did introduce force vehicle control (i guess midichlorians interface well with electronics or something) so that arguments about shot.

They did introduce it, but does it work? I've read that it does absolutely nothing, but I don't know anyone personally who's gotten it.

I think it does actually work, I went out with a friend to the village and after we'd stopped for something he always got the headstart when we set off again. The acceleration was noticably increased.
