As you can tell, I've been playing this game from the beginning. Until recently, I have been combat only, the only crafted thing being smuggler tools. I joined a friend on another server, and their guild is a crafter based guild. OK, I figure it would be a nice change. Thus far, I've made it 4/4/4/1 in artisan, and now I'm surveying and the xp is coming SO slow.
Do any of you have any suggestions as to how to gain survey xp faster? I would greatly appreciate your help.
Thanks,
Dpjarrett

Unfortunately there's really only a handful of things you can do to make it go faster.
- Make sure you are on the highest concentration you can find. When trying to grind out my survey tree I usually go for about 90% if possible.
- While you're sampling you'll typically burn through your action the fastest. If you want to sample continuously without having to pause to sit while your stats recharge I would recommend getting at least one ofyour action secondaries buffed. Another option is to pick up novice medic and buy some stim B's off of the bazaar; however, this can prove problematic because healing yourself will drain your mind.
- I usually prefer to sample within a city. I try to find an out-of-the-way corner as courtesy to everyone around me so that I'm not standing in the middle of Coronet sampling. Sampling within a city is best because you don't have to worry about getting killed and you also don't have to waste precious samplingtime bydefending yourself.
- Finally, when looking for a high concentration, just get all of the survey tools in your inventory and start running down the list of resources in each tool. Eventually you will find something in the high 80's without having to run around looking for something.
I hope that helps. Good luck!

I just did master artisan with my alt what i did was used accargm to make it so i could keep sampling. It kicks all three of your action stats up for 40 minutes. Meaning the cost of the sampling action is lower, you have more action, and it refills faster. While i was drunk on it i didnt have to worry about my action.
I was using BE Accargm since its a guild BE/Chef. But you could just as easily get a chef to make up non-BE and it would be in the 200 range for the stats and you can take 2 at a time (only needed if using non-BE to save money)

Or you could try to be self-sufficient and make Teltier Noodles. This is a small buff to the Action regen stat. The filling is low, just eat a stack of them. (When you use up a stack that you made, you also get user XP, about 50% of what you got for crafting the food.)

Do you get user XP if you use a weapon you made? Its something i always was confused on.
I would suggest a macro to get Survey XP, i use a good one, cant remember what i typed off hand but could get it for you Shark. Its how i got Survey 4.

I think i was supposed to work that way in the beginning.
Whenever someone used your items you got xp.
But I don't think it ever made it.

Shame really, its a good way for Artisan's to make XP early on. Or thinking on it now a better way to become master at the profession. So much better than Apprentice points i think...its hard to find people to teach.

Well, i got as far as you, 4441, then i went into the Coronet Medical Center and asked if there were any medics needing XP, and feeling like going out with me and healing my action while i surveyed, turned out pretty nice. Actually met a nice medic from the same country as me. But yeah it is a freaking pain to get surveying XP, they ought to add training it at rectruiters.
