You could craft and experiment generic crafting tools before they moved all the schematics around and took a lot of items away from the WDG crafting tool. Now you can't craft them with the WDGand there is no "generic crafting station".But you can still probably find some of the "Pre-nerf" crafting tools somewhere if you ask around.

I cannot figure out how to craft good general crafting tools. Well, I guess the real question is why cant I experiment? I have a weapon, droid, general crafting station in my house, Im using a general crafting toool, and im standing right next to the station. But I cannot experiment. I can experiment with ALL other kinds of crafting tools, but not general. And also, when I try using a weapon, droid, general crafting tool to do it, I dont get the option of crafting general items. Please, help me out.

Nothing can be experimented with a general crafting tool
The general crafting tool can only be made with OTHER general crafting tools
So you cant experiment on them.

Yup, these guys are right...sort of. When SOE 'fixed' the WDG tools from being able to make every item, they put the Generic crafting tool in the 'Generic' category, which of course is only available on the Generic crafting tool.
However, you can actually experiment with Generic tools by doing a few things, unless it was fixed with the mini-publish. Here's how:
- Stand in front of a Weapon, Droid and General crafting station.
- Select your schematic, and go to the assembly screen. Don't add resources quite yet.
- With the assembly screen open, do a CTRL-I to open your inventory.
- Find a WDG tool in your inventory, and right click on it.
- Select the 'Open Input Hopper' option from the first radial menu selection.
- If you are in the area of effect for the station, the input hopper box will open. Leave it open, and return to the assembly screen.
- Add your resources as you normally would.
- Click 'Assemble'
- After you go past the assembly results screen, you will have both the option to experiment and the ability to make manufacturing schematics. Neat huh?
Unless this was fixed very recently (like yesterday), it should still work. Hope this helps.
