Thread: Can't use survey tool

No idea what to do hear. All of my harvestors need to be relocated since the resource expired. When I try to survey, I am getting an message (Need to select resource). I've been surveying and running harvestors for almost a year and never had this happen. I can't survey at all. Anybody seen this happen???

That happened to me once, and i just crafted a new survey device and used it and it worked. I don't know if that is the same problem you are having, but you can give it a try.

It might help if you surveyed with another tool, say, the chemical one and then switch back to the mineral. It might give it a 'kick'.

I had a problem with a survey tool as well. My mineral survey tool appeared to be stuck mid-survey. I could use my chem and gas survey tools, but the mineral one seemed broken somehow. I could not select a resource and survey. When I tried nothing happened.
I was out in the middle of nowhere too. Fortunately I had my crafting droid with my tools inside and a whole backpack full of various metals. I whipped up a new tool and it worked just fine. The old tool was still stuck. I deleted the old one and got on with my life.

That was my final solution. Destroyed the old tools and made new ones. Go figure.
