Thread: Artisan not worth it, too much idiocy all around.

Well, now that the Artisan professionhas been ruined by people selling veicles at 1-4cpu, I am moving on. I'd been working on armorsmith on the side, and right now its looking pretty **edit** good career-wise. No onequestions your prices when your stuff is good quality, and armorsmiths tend not to undercut each other since they seem to agree their time/effort/torture-of-resource gathering is worth some monetary compensation. And if that doesn't work I can always go into resources, since we have a steady supply of idiots who will buy my resources and then sell their products at a loss.

Bon voyage.

Someone else upset that they didn't get to gouge out a million credits an hour....

No actually I was charging a fair price, and was not price gouging. Just still in disbeleif that the undercutting got so out of hand and practically devistated a profession in one day.

I had been planning on selling at 7cpu, with 94% experimentation vehicles, and I couldn't find sales cause of all the morons selling at less then 4cpu.

Ah well, I have a stack of high ql steel I can probably sell for 7cpu or more, and my master artisan title is just as useless and pathetic as before the patch, so I guess I'm still coming out ahead *shrug*.

This was exactly my experience. I shudder to think that there are some people out there who honestly don't see this as a problem.

Maybe the less then 4cpu morons have lower over head costs. A minimal invested in mid harvesters will produce materials at .5cpu. That’s an 800% markup.

If the "morons" are running a sucuessful business and you arent, what does that make you?

Ohh, afkSawMountain hurt my feelings....

My total cost for my resources, including fusion maintenance, harvester maintenance and my time, is .28 credits per unit.

Vehicles take no special "named" materials, no sub-components, and I manually pumped out 60 deeds in under half an hour on 2 crafting tools.

If I sell for 2cpu, Im making over 7times profit.

The only idiocy I see is some people who seem to believe that higher stat materials cost more to harvest. As a craftsman, its in your best interest to make the best item you can. A 94% speeder costs no more or less than a 0% speeder to make, its only the perceived value of materials that continues to raise prices on ALL items.

The only resources that have a reason to be more expensive are the rare-spawn resources like Axidite Iron or others needed for high skill advanced schematics. Because they spawn rarely and for short periods of time, these have a higher value due to their limited supply. But guess what? It still only costs .28 cpu to pull from the ground. The increased value is just a perceived notion that rare=expensive.

I don't buy resources from others because A) I can do it myself to cover all the downtime when I'm not crafting and B) They overcharge like the dickens. No resource is worth 20cpu unless you got multiple people wanting to buy the same quantity of resource and it starts a bidding war.

Go ahead and complain about people selling at reasonable levels. Its those people that customers will come back to because of their fair business practices. They are the ones that will never have to do missions to cover harvester costs, because they will always have a steady supply of credits flowing in.

I was going to make and sell some. I made a few pre-orders, and went and checked out the market.

Sawkinda low prices, and a few too many people selling them (and a few hundred bugged bikes laying around)

Figured it would be better to wait until later to gouge the people...

-all crafting proffessions have artisan, even if they not Master,it is easy for them to become Master artisan.

-despite there is experimental point toincrease quality, buyers cant see it. Vehicles likejunks are sold equal tohigh quality products.

-process of manufacture is too simple, they require only two type of material.

-the day was full of bugs, so was vehicel, buyers tried to discount from this point.

I think the price wont come back.

I've said it before and say it again -- This is a simulation of a Free Market Economy. People are free to price thigns as they see fit. Price wars will occur. Price gauging will occur. The ultimate power lies in the hands of the buyers. This is the nature of the game. Fair ain't got nothing to do with it. Sensible ain't got nothing to do with it.

Even if you were to organize a Merchant's Council or a Trade Fedearation that set the price rangesfor major items; even if this org had the support of major guilds and would punish those who did not abide by it's rules; even if most of your server supported this idea -- you'd still have rogue vendors who undercut or gouge.

It's a Jungle Market out there. Ain't too pretty but it is what it is. Don't lose heart because things aren't going your way for a while. Business should turn around. Hang in there, chum.

GraySeven thinks there is no demand for resources. He sells for below market value. Let him. It is his loss. He sees his profit as acceptable and will not accept more. Fine by me, he lowers the market supply by keeping his harvestors private and just crafting vehicles. I will sell my resources for even more. The regular demand is the same, and all the vehicle crafters who mine their own and sell cheap vehicles are no longer supplying the market, hence creating a greater demand. I would ask that everyone with a harvestor please start crafting 2cru vehicles to make people happy and I will then sell my resources to the rest of the crafters for 10cru.

Actually I think ill start selling>900 OQmetals on your server for 3cpujust for you, troll. At .28 thats not a bad profit margine that I would be happy with. And you know what, because I would be making a profit you could cry grief all day long but the only thing you would be able to do is lower your prices.

Of course I wont do this because it would rob you of the all important credit that sits in your bank account that you dont spend, ruin your precious economy, bring about the downfall of SWG and thus the entire world would soon follow. Ever think that some people would like to make other happy while at the same time making more then enough money to make them happy?
