Thread: Vehicle Base Costs (3cr, 5cr, 7cr per unit) & prospective retail costs
This is just something i was working at tonight seeing how much vehicles would cost to make.
Applying the same markup principals as in real life retail stores of 33% average, i thought i would share with all of you what you might expect future vehicles to stabilize at.
Expect 1st day retail prices to triple or quadruple, as with all new sale items.
In a week, prices should be near my projections assuming normal market trends.
Quality of materials will effect the stats of the bikes, and for most servers, average quality materials sell for between 2-3cr/u withabove average materials selling for 5cr/u and the best materials selling for 7cr/u.
Those were factored in to the end-prices. scroll to end to see the crude breakouts.

Nice post! Finally an educated well thought post about vehicle pricing.

I must point out, however, that high-end materials and experimentation will only affect final HAM, and nothing else. This is an FYI for all of you who may not have known that and are looking to buy a vehicle.
I'm sure all the MA's out there already are well aware of that. With that said, I'm also going to mark up for good resources, yet I won't jack this post to give my prices. The price list given is very reasonable.

Read the post the price has already taken in the cost/charge for the best resource (7cr/per).
I got that. I was just thinking out loud again.
I''m using high quality materials and I'm still charging only 4 cr/u. With preorders I have rightnow, I'vealready recovered the cost of my harvesters and fusion gens. Future sales should help me recover cost of doing business and then turn me a profit.
By all means though, charge what you think is fair, or for that matter, whatever people are willing to pay. ![]()
Just throwing in my two cents.
Princing is based on supply and demand. I expect the first day vehicle sale price to be over 250K-350K as the original post suggested, maybe even higher. There are lots of people out there with cash, those holocron rich dudes. Over time, price will become stable. Im so glad to see an item that artisan can make that decays, therefore creating a viable income for hard working artisans.

Just a couple comments...
First, why would you even consider selling a finished item for 3cpu, that you have to master a profession to make? I certainly understand not charging 50cpu, but realize that people have credits, millions of them, and they want to spend them. There is NOTHING wrong with actually making a reasonable profit as a crafter, and even if you mine EVERY resource you use, and don't buy anything, you're pricing closer to 2cpu profit. That's pretty sad.
Second, have a look at my post about pricing in general, on a nearby thread for some help on pricing.

This is stupid. This game is about having fun. NOONE who is SMART will pay ANYONE 75,000c for ANYTHING!
This is NOT EVERQUEST!! 500,000 players and 12 people have horses! That's not fun!
What 13,000,000 plat for a harness!!?? That is a joke!! And you EQ hogs
are coming over here -- to do IT here!! UGH!
If you're paying for resources you could sample yourself...your stupid.
4 creds per unit??!! Craft a harvestor, drop it, pay the maintence, and
be done with it! And NO don't base the cost of the resources on
the cost of harvestor maintenece! That cost is separate. Man, you..ugh!
Stupid.
Just stupid.
You're absolutely nuts if you think that these vehicle prices is going to limit the amount of people with vehicles. 17K credits? A noob could have that in a couple hours at the most. If you can't come up with that kind of cash you're doing something wrong. You compare the vehicle situation to EQ with only 12 people on a server with horses? One week into the vehicle patch, you won't be able to find 12 people without vehicles. Go crawl back in your hole.
Im not trying to sound like captain kick ass but if I couldn't make vehicles I would pay 70k thats only a couple days harvestor maint. You have to realize that some people are millionares and money is not that hard to come by.
As a matter of fact because I can sell some of the resources I mine for 10cpu with very little effort I have the kind of money to spend 70k on a vehicle. That is the reason I will be trying to get as much as possible when vehicles hit live the first day. If you dont like the high prices just wait a day or two, thats what I did when mounts went live.
I have seen some great pricing guides that are similar to mine, that I will be implementing about a week after they hit live.

I'll skip the usual mockeries about your font choice, font size, word coloring, and inaccurate use of the shift key. Instead I"ll just say that you are a moron.
There are many items in the game that I will (and have) paid more than 75k for. Heavy Harvesters, high-end Krayt tissues, high-end Krayt weapons, Guild Halls, etc are all usually priced over 75k.
If someone pays 75k for a 5k item, they are not necessarily making the wisest financial choice, but items are marked up for various reasons--remember how expensive mounts were at first? Now they're really cheap to get. If you want to be first, you will pay a higher cost. Maybe vehicle costs will drop later.
Do not insult people who are smarter than you by claiming we're stupid for paying reasonable fees for something. Before you make statements about what "smart" people do or do not do...maybe you should try asking a smart person.
And your own opinion does not count.
