Thread: Will we get any dev time before the SE? My money is on NO.

Nearly one year live, four Artisan correspondents, SE on the horizon, and yet there has been NO discussionbetween the Artisans and the Devs.

Guru - which developer is currently in charge of our class? It used to be RThornton, but he was always working on the SE or some other project. Is there anyone even willing to take responsibility for it anymore?

I have come to the conclusion (especially after seeing justg's timeline) that we have been passed over until after the Space Expansion for any sort of class review. If I'm wrong, I'd love you to confirm something different Guru.

If in fact we are being back-burnered indefinitely, it's time to organize something on our side to take to the Devs - and then apply as much pressure aswe can musterfrom the communityto have it addressed. The devs have in the past been open to well thought out suggestions, and all they have seen from us for months are random wishlist items, and bug complaints.

I'm not even sure how many folks out there even care anymore. I'd like to hear from those who do.

There was a post somewhere that stated what they were working on in each of the publishes up to the SE and I'm afraid to say this doesn't involve us Artisans. We didn't make a high enough priority.

From that post:

Mini Publish 8.1

  • Image Designer Enhancements
  • Improved Line of Sight calculations (no more shooting through walls etc.)
  • Jump to Lightspeed Beta announcement

Mini Publish 8.2

  • Death Watch Bunker This is a Major adventure w/ integrated profession requirements and some amazing new loot:

    • Bounty Hunter Armor
    • Mandalorian Armor
    • Jetpacks (Yes, Jetpacks!)
    • New weapons
    • New art

  • Veteran Rewards system
  • Badge Display system
  • Loot enhancements

Publish #9: Secrets of the Force

  • Complete overhaul of the Jedi system
  • Character Transfer System
  • Hermit Quest fixes
  • Smuggler revamp
  • Player City Missions

Mini Publish 9.1

  • Wookiee Armor 2 & 3
  • Additional Chat Channels
  • Mini Publish 9.2
  • Crafting/ Entertainer Quests
  • Merchant: Remove Empty Vendors from Planetary Map

Publish #10: The Jedi Trials

  • Complete overhaul of the path to becoming Force Sensitive
  • Combat Balance: A major overhaul to the combat system and balances of our game.
  • Squad Leader Revamp

Mini Publish 10.1

Top CS/ QA/ Correspondents' issues

Mini Publish 10.2

  • Hutt Casino: This is a major Social Adventure geared towards Dancers, Musicians, and fast-talking Smugglers. It is also going to be a great place just to hang out. It was moved from Publish 9 to Publish 10 because our art resources will be cranking on Space during that time. Believe me, it will be worth the wait!

Publish #11: The Galactic Civil War

  • Complete overhaul of the Galactic Civil War system

And then... Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed!!!

It would seem that our best bet is Mini-publish 10.1. Let's make sure they're working on our stuff for it, eh?

I don't know who our dev is.

I can, however, say that in my opinion, we will not see any substansive changes to the Artsian class until after SE at the soonest. It is believed that:

1) Since we are a novice class

and

2) Since we "got love" with vehicles

We are not a priority anymore, not for a while yet. I wouldn't expect to see much except for bug fixes and tweaks until after SE and Combat Rebalance.

I will try to find out who our dev is, when they all get back from E3 (All the devs are gone, CSRs are minding the store).

I don't agree with their priorities, and have said so, but there you are.

Right now, the biggest priorities are: SE and combat rebalance.

I continue to raise our concerns, and plan to continue to raise them. Squeeky wheel and all that.

Take care,

I will add a few more points.

If we can present a well-thought out change and make a good case for it, we might see it.

However, we have had a hard time getting our message clear. Some of us want enhancements to Master Artisan, some want survey/sample enhancements, some want more schematics/better schematics, some want harvester changes....

Of course, not all of these are mutally exclusive, but our message has been muddled.

How would y'all like to see Artisan different? Not make a miner class, not refining, etc, but how would we propose to change Artisan itself to make it more fun?

I'm asking.

Take care,

I think to make artisan more fun you need to make artisans the only ones able to use factories and heavy harvestors. Will make artisans busier and more sought after as a profession to master and one who aids the other crafting professions.

Also some new schematics like new type of fireworks like ground based sparklers or jumping jack types. More variety to air bursting types like maybe a medium range sparkler firework that could compliment a fireworks package. Easier methods of making fireworks packages because right now it is a pain. Ways to tie in different fireworks packagaes to make "special event shows" in which we can be hired to make shows for victories in battle, new player cities, anniversaries, weddings, etc. This would open upa new way to set yourself apart from other artisans in that you can make really good fireworks shows.

Survey enhancements at master artisan that would make mastering artisan worthwhile and would make us saught after from other crafting professions for our survey skills(this ties in with my proposed harvester rebalance in other threads).

I think all of the issues you said need to be addressed at once. IN order of most importance I would say:

1)Harvester/Factory/Power plant rebalance certification's.

2)New survey skills (although i recommend this being added as a master bonus).

3) new schematics ( this is where my fireworks idea would come in).

Those are pretty much our only issues. I rated them as 1 - 3 as I seen them pleaded for by the ocmmunity and not my personal opinion, although I would rate like my fireworks show at #2 instead of 3 personally(new schematics or features).
