How about adding a satellite generated resource survey map ofan entire planet. It would show resource type and density at every 1000m, butNOT the stats of the mineral. It could be a terminal that costs 500cu to use per mineral search. It only works on planet you are on.
This would save someone looking to drop a harvestor for a certain resource to not spend 1-2 game hours unless really lucky, looking for a great concentration. It would also save wear on the speeders. At 1000m per data point, you will still need to survey to find the uber spot.

I would like it. But it would take away from the challenge WAY too much. Being a good crafter should mean being either lucky or extremely dedicated. If you make it like a preschool game where anybody can be above average then its not good.
Maybe getting a rare drop for a sattelite surveyor in which only 1 person could use it once a day would be good. Anything that keeps it rare and uncommon.

I would like to see survey data being saved on my computer. When I'm out surveying, the map is just filled in for me. I can then see if I missed any spots. People would also be able to trade maps.

This particularally pisses me off as well.
I spend three hours driving around naboo looking for a good ore spot. Well I did find some! I even found a 70% SPOT!!!
The problem, Its was in the middle of theed! }
It seems if any spot was over 55% on the planet it was in a no build zone. Either on the top of a hill, on a steep slope, in the middle of a lake. ... It just sucks.
Do they do it on purpose? "Oh lets put some good spots out there so people cant say there isnt any, and then make it so they cant use them."
I ended up finding a spot that had 55-57% right at the border of the no build zone. And I mean RIGHT at the border. Two downsides, its on a river. [grumbles] and some people had houses there.
I didnt want to disrupt their housing area to much so I had to move them around abit and get them out of the best spot, but they dont have to look at harvesters when they step out the door.

I'd like to see the data stored as well. It gets pretty hard to keep track of where you surveyed sometimes.
