i currently have no artisan, but have pionts i can spare to pick up nov artisan..my interest in doing this would be to do the quest to unlock the FS"luck" tree..the mission requires you to:

"Find 50%+ concentrations of different resources (Iron, Gas, Energy, Aluminum, Ore, Gemstone, Steel, Copper). All you have to do is survey for them and be standing on a spot that is above 50%, you do not have to sample. You get a Sith resource loot item for each successful survey."

my question to you artisans is, is it possible for the surveying skill of a novice artisan to to find these concentrations?..if it can be done i think i may do it..thanx in advance

It can be done at Novice Artisan, although the higher range you get with boxes in Survey would definitely help.

At Novice your tool's range is (IIRC) 64m. At Survey 4 you've got (again IIRC) 256m. So with higher survey skills you can "see" four times as far, have longer between surveys (mainly an issue for regen of Mind), and can more easily spot if a "vein" splits in a couple directions. But the results returned back will be identical for the area covered.

Yes, you will be able to find them with a novice artisan, it will just take you longer than it would for someone with a higher surveying skill. The surveying skill does not change what concentrations you can find, anyone with even the most rudimentary surveying skills can find the entire range of resource concentrations. The main advantage of a having a higher surveying skill is that you can survey over a much larger area.

If you really want to speed up your mission, my advice would be tohire a master artisan for an hour or so to help you with your surveying. The master artisan can find the concentrations you're looking for and then you just have to stand where he tells you and hit your survey button.

Have a chef on your server make you some Chandad (Deserts I).Gives around a +15 to Survey which I believe is not normally very useful but for you it might bump you by one or two levels to increase your range. Make sure when you take it you adjust the range on your survey tool. Do this from the survey tool radial menu.

Surveying at the base 64m is brutal for tracking and finding stuff.

My other question for you is why do you want the luck tree in FS skills? Fromeverything I read it sounds pretty worthlessand a waste of a lot of FS points.
