Thread: House Customization

Wouldn't it be nice if you could customize your house? Like, paint the outside, paint the walls, add some carpet, etc. How about if Architects would customize the walls of your house? Like, put a glass window in a wall or something. What if Master Architects were able to customeze their own house? Like, hava a selection of rooftops, a selection of body styles, and add your own walls, add how many floors, etc. Just some ideas for houses that would be cool

personally I would rather they fix the hoards of bugs instead of intruducing more useless features and "fixes."

Think this is an architect issues, but one I'd like to eventualy see in the game. This would also open up a new market for architects, being hired to customize a house. They're too "cookie cutter" and can get boring to look at sometimes.

But I also agree, bug fixes first.

They need to distinguish Corellian style houses from Generics first. And add some frickin stairs to the medium of both kinds! But the /move up/down will probably get in before we see "Corellian" homes, so I guess it's not a big deal. hehe

i agree,

architects need more unique things. sure i wish for many features since beta.

coloring would rock, making player city street able to get actually a street with stone pathes or such. adding simply trees and flowers to citys, not only gardens which are rediculous expensive.

or more plants at all for furnitures.

at least the up/down commandIS comming after long month in publish 7. thats great and badly needed.

but yes the correlia housesAND generic hosues should get some neater layouts. basements, balconies etc.

some day maybe we see such changes after alot bugs are fixed

houses houses houses houses houses! Yes, this has been mentioned many times before, and there are "rumors" that stuff might happen, but i'm gonna take the opportunity to bring it up, AGAIN.

How cool would it be to customize houses? I mean, you have generic houses and planet houses (even though generic and corellian are the same thing). Well, since artisans can custom their clothes and stuff, why can't architects custom the houses? here's a few ideas.

Have the already made templates, but be able to customize the walls and stuff. You know, remove a certain wall, add a stairway somewhere. The exterior walls can bejust a shell, and the architect can piece the inside together.

Or, even more customizable would be to have a set of premade components to make your house. Like, 5 different styles of roofs, 10 different walls, 4 styles of windows, etc. Then, the architect can piece together a completely custom built house that way. Sort of like in The Sims (if you ever played that horrid game).

Another idea would be to be able to paint walls and your house. It gets dull living in concrete walled houses, or sand colored homes. Why not be able to paint them to your liking, just like you can paint your vehicle? Possibly paint each wall to your liking and stuff.

A main issue would be that architects might not visualize what YOU want for a home. So how about being able to make a house schematic and give it to the architect? Like have public schematic terminals where you can virtually build your home to look the way you want it, and then it churns out a schematic (for a fee of course , and then all you have to do is give it to an architect and they can build it for you.

OK, i'm having a brain seizure. I think i've said enough. Chew on that for a bit, or chew on some Fried Yoda

how about letting arch's make a house customization kit like we have for vehicles. let ma paint the walls, door, roof and mabye the walkway different colors. throw in some textures like ships (i want a black and red house with flames )
and you have a winner that will keep arch's busy creating for a long time

If we can't get complete customization on houses (which I would imagine would be an incredible coding change), can we at least get more floorplans? There are already several really nice floorplans out there that are planet-specific. Maybe open these up with a different exterior/interior color to all planets?

At the very least, give Corellian style houses their own look! Why does Corellia get stuck with only generic houses when every other planet gets two types?

Yay! House customization is something that is direly needed. Not only being able to paint/wallpaper the walls, but also little things like removing the built-in lighting (or adding a switch), renovating to knock out or add walls, and adding proper collision points so a fireplace on the ground floor of a medium Naboo won't send smoke through the floor of the second story.

There's no question that after looking at the interior of any house for a looong time, change is needed. This would give architects something new, and frankly, interesting to work on. People want the walls painted? Get an architect to change it through the structure management terminal...or, build a new house...or sell a wall paint kit...or...or...or.

I would like all this and have architects be able to add rooms to homes that actually INCREASE the amount of items a house can hold. Say like each additional room holds 75 items with a maximum room limit depending on the kind (style) of house you have built for you. It would conserve the amount of lots needed to place homes and could possibly limit people to two homes a piece (I would restrict it to that).

I think it would greatly help out all crafters and those (in guilds or otherwise) who help guildmates or friends by allowing them to use lots for harvesters or factories.

Tell me what you think.

A better and more realistic idea would be to get with an architect and have the architect work up the design along with you in a window similar to how image designers work with you to get the look you want. Also, a way for an architect to work up a floorplan and show it to someone later would be wonderful, possibly similar to the writable datapad/book proposal that was made a month or so ago

You know, I think any, and every, profession that deals with customization for customers should have this option. I say option as I think it's perfectly fine for crafters to make whatever they think they can sell, but for professions like shipwright, this would be advantageous to both crafter and customer. It'll also get the customer to not just guess what they may need out of a component or part. They'll actually KNOW what they need or may need in the future.
