Thread: Another Newbie Questions
The problem is, i can't find one. It's not that i can't find one for sale, i just can't find where the bleedin' things are listed on the vendor in town. I looked under deeds, misc, resources, droids, and unless i keep missing it, I just can't find them. Can someone point me in the right direction?
But every now and then aggressive creatures spawn close to my little mining encampments.
I'm thinking about heading into town, and hiring out some low level mercs to clean the place out.
Has anyone tried this approach? Has it worked? Is there something else that works?

I've got a few newbie type questions. I tihnk i'm kinda a mid-range newbie. I've been playing for a couple of months now, but I just startd an artisan character a week or so ago (just as the double xp bonus kicked in).
#1 I bought a house, put it up on a hill, put my ugly little metal box vender in it, and i'm stocked and ready to go. Now i'm finding myself spending more time in my house crafting, and i'm thinking that it would be a good idea to put a crafting station in my home. So i've been saving up my nickels and pennies and I think I'm ready.

#2 I think i've got a good grip on what "lots" are, and even how many lots something costs. But is there anyway, within the artisan profession, to increase the number of lots i can have? I've got a medium sized house, 3 wind generators, and 3 personal miners, and i'm maxed out.
#3 How do other artisans deal with aggressive animal in the wild? I've been focussing all my skill on the artisan professions, so i can barely swing a stick, and large houseflies frequently incapacitate me.

#1 Not sure what htey are listed under really.. hrmm might try tools? dunno heh
#2 - You can only have 10 lots period. Medium houses I thought were only 2 lots like smalls tho? Hrmm gonna have to check on that ![]()
#3 - How do I deal with aggressive critters - first I try to avoid them. My tailor is an uber cl1 lol. I always keep the overhead map on, and when I see red I go around it. As for them spawning near your harvesters, I'd just wait, or recruit a friend to come kill them for ya... before the CU I'd fly my speeder into the middle of them and once they aggro'd me I'd speed off and try to drag them away.. once I lost aggro I'd go back.. they don't always go back to the same spot.. I dunno if I could recommend this now, as I've not tried it with the CU.. one hit and I'd probably die now lol.
1) Use your map ( default key : v ) and search for vendors. Housing is a good category to look under, as architects are the guys that make crafting stations as well, as best I can tell. Alternatively, search under Deeds on the Bazaar ( didn't have much luck on this one ). Warning: Crafting stations can be difficult to find IME... most people don't stock them. You may want to find a MArch and see if you can custom order it.
And be prepared to pay through the nose, unfortunately. I don't know what crafting stations cost to make, but they're quite expensive.
A second option ( as the spouse of a DE, I feel obligated to mention it ) is to purchase a droid with a crafting module built it, and it can act as your crafting station. I understand it can affect your experimentation rates (?) but if you're just wanting to get started and still be portable this might be another alternative.
2) Lots is fixed, as mentioned. I'd recommend switching from those Wind generators to a Fusion generator ( if memory serves me right ), as you'll get more power output for fewer lots. See the Mining thread listed in the FAQs for more explanation. My one fusion generator is currently generating probably 6x as much power as my one wind generator is currently proiducing. I just haven't torn down the wind generator because I've already funded it, and am unsure if I'll get anything back if I tear it down.
3) I have 55 levels in Doc, and have no problems with critters so far. Not much of a solution for you, I am sure. If your problem is dealing with low-level critters at sites, you ( again I feel obligated to mention ) may want to hunt up a Droid Engineer and see about getting a L30 combat droid to help you out.

1. Already covered well.
2. You should have 2 lots free with the count you have. Medium = 2 lots, and each harvester/miner should take one..
3. Until you max out your skill points, getting a few points in a combat skill won't hurt. even a few levels will help you out, getting a novice box will let you wear armor. IF you don't get a novice box though, you could invest in a personal shield generator, which anyone can use. Handy for emergency purposes. Also, pets or combat droids to tank. Again, a money thing though..
