I think this would be a fun addition to a pilot / artisan profession: the ability to mine (sample) asteroids in space! Jump in your YWing, fire up your Space Mineral Survey Device, and plot a heading for the nearest asteroid field! Spend a few hours just you, the stars, and a few tons of high quality ore. 
Of course, the next obvious step would be asteroid mining installations! Maybe a collaborative effort between an Architect and a Shipwright?

Hi All,
Performed some asteroid mining and got my cargo holds full of stuff (1 large 1 small)but cant retrieve it from the cargo holds either on ship or when i unload the hold and it's in inv, there's no option either when dropped in my house. Only one option currently stands and that's sell it at a Space Mining Or Trade Outpost. There's no option on bazaar yet for mined resources either so i guess you have not added the retrieve option yet.
Did you forget to add the option to gather resources from cargo holds ????
No shipwright will be able to make the new stuff till you fix this, or post how the hell u get the stuff from the cargo holds and yes before you ask the holds are full i cant gather any more stuff till this is sorted MORE WAITING FOR FIXES......
btw on a better note, nice lead up to getting Y8, now lets have the rest

After landing, open your datapad, use radial menu on your ship, select "unload cargo" and....voilá... your stuff goes to your inventory

The only way we can mine Asteroids is with the Y-8 correct and the Y-8 mission is bugged so you can't get it correct?
Or can you puta mining laser on oneof your ships and start mining?
Im a new Master Shipwright and have no clue if we can mine asteroids or not! Please help!

So I would just buy a tractor beam or mining beam and a cargo hold and start to mine away?

I am looking for any Shipwright who can make me a tractor beam, mining beam, and a cargo hold. PST to Archabyakk in game or holo-mail me.
I won't be on from 3:30 PM CST - Saturday at 2:00 PM at which time I will have finished with work for this weekend.

best way to order something like that is to go to your galaxy trade forum, or search on the galactic wide vendor search at the bazaar on your server.

oh, and you can get what you need to start mining from the mining quests. Player crafted will be much better, but these are for free.

Who/where do you go to start the mining quests? I've been searching Quest, Pilot, and Shipwright forums but can't find an answer.

Flash... something. I want to say Thompson, but I know for a fact that isn't right. Anyway, he's on the first floor of the giant tree in Kashyyyk. Come out of the elevator and go to your left, then cross the little bridge thingy to the right. He'll get you started.
