I'm afraid I don't exactly understand resources spawn yet. I used to have a great source of high quality aluminum, and I know that every once in a while a resource type will dissapear from the server, and so now I'm looking for it's replacement. I've checked five different planets, and four of them had the same crappy, low-quality aluminum, and the fifth had none at all. BeforeI waste any more time, will I have different results if I continue my search to the other planets as well?

It may be on the other planets so I would check. Or check out swgcraft.com and click the current resources link on the left.

Resources "shift" out anywhere from 3 to 10+ days, it varies often and often seems to happen just when you found something good 
If you are in need of something specific, then yes you'll need to keep checking. Or just give up and wait a few days for them to shift again, and hope you get lucky. What you will soon learn,andif your finances allow, is that you'll want to getsome goodharvesters and drop as many as you can on the "good" stuff when it spawns. It all comes down to a hording game of sorts. You want to get as much as you can to hold you over until the next one comes along 
As someone posted SWGCraft is a great sight, if yourserver is updated frequentlyit can be an invaluable source for finding the good resources.
