Thread: Give the Vehicle Schematics to Master Artisans
I originally heard that Engineering IV would be the location of the original few single man vehicle schematics, and I can't tell you how annoyed this made me. Master Artisan is still a near-pointless skill block to take unless you're a Droid Engineer, and adding vehicles to it would be an excellent way to increase it's value. Vehichles NEED to be something less rare than Firework Type 18. Every man, woman, child, and worrt has Engineering IV, which makes vehicles more of a 'along the way' novelty schematic. I want the value of a vehicle to actually mean something.
Put the vehicle schematics inthe proper spot in the Master Artisan block and give Master Artisans a point for existing, please.
Because people want them, vehichles will never be rare. Whether 10 MA make 100 vehicles each or a 1000 EngIV make 1 vehicle each. EVERYONE will have a vehcile.
Besided MA has a huge "point of being" what basic master class is depended on by several elite classes for their components.

Master Artisan needs almost as much love as BE. Surviving on electronics components is a joke. The only reason I don't give it ip is the experiementation bonus. Plenty of Master Artisans out there make components to sell.

Well, I tend to agree that MA's need a few more things to make. I rarely, if ever, use the items/schematics that came with that achievement and, let me tell you, I feel a bit cheated for working so hard to master it! I'm not saying that all the one seater / personal vehicles should be created by MA's though. I think most of the "simpler" vehicle schematics should go to Eng IV and then maybe one or two more complex ones, youknow like the fansierLX,SX, etc.versions in cars, should go to MA's. Just my opinion here, mind you.
Either way, I'm just hoping that whatever these schematics turn out to be that I've got enough resources on hand to make some seriously cool vehicles (can you tell I'm excited about the vehicles going live??) when they go live on the servers. Just my two creds, though. ![]()
Actually, Viz, I understand what you're saying, and I'd be inclined to agree with you, but so far, from what I've seen, mounts are still rare, which surprised me, because they are easy to obtain. I think one of the best things about mounts is the fact that they are coveted as a bit of a status symbol.
I don't really want vehicles to be in the MA square so that *I* can make money, I really want them to be there so that they are something more of a status symbol. Now, why do I want that? Not because I want to show off, but because I know that if that is the case, then owning one will be more fun. I honestly think that YES, eventually just about everyone will own a vehicle in SWG, BUT if they are a little bit harder to obtain, then when people get them, they will actually ENJOY them all the more. I think that is really something to be said for.

If the vehicles wind up single-person craftable, OR if multi-profession, only an MA should be able to assemble. I'm not even there yet, but it would be nice to be proud of getting there.
I think it would be cool if they would add a mechanic profession. From the official description of the site, they explain vehicles as a one seater that has agun mounted on the vehicle.
They could have the 4 mechanic skills: Engines I-IV (speed of vehicle),Vehical ChasisI-IV (hit points of vehicle), Mounted Defenses I-IV (Strength and type of weapons on vehicle), Vehicle Cusomizations I-IV (This would be the different types of vehicles, as well as other add on's (Trunk space, shield, overdrive engine; like burst run)). The point is that if they want to do vehicles, they could add alot more then just a few schematics to a very common profession. That would make vehicles worth more and give it the ability to grow a little as the "mechanics" become more experienced.
I would actually like to see them hold off vehicles if they were willing to do it right. I agree that all the schematics shouldnt be given to Eng IV, however, I dont think they should all be given to MA either. If vehicles are going to be a big part of the game, then add an aditional profession, after all, what are they going to do when the expansion comes out with space vehicles?
Thats just my .02
But if you've seen any Star Wars movie, you know body parts are easy to come by! LOL
