I'm sorry if this has been discussed before but I just became an artisan today after playing the game for a few months and I'm almost done with Engineering. Anyway, I was wondering if artisans will be able to craft vehicles or have any sort of role in vehicles or will it be a different profession that branches from artisan?

My bet is that it may rely on most all of the elite professions, aside from chef...

Well...

Architecht - Frame of Vehicle
Tailoring - Seats
Weaponsmith - Engine
Armorsmith - Armoring on the outside
Droid Engineer - Computers
Merchant - Sells the **edit** things.

Chef - Cup holders

He knew he was as good as gone, but gone was somewhere he really didn't mind going to.
Since his shuttle had crashed, many years had passed, and the pictures of his loved ones that he drew on the walls of the cave
had finally faded.
He put out his smoke, proceeded towards the lake, repeating to himself,
everything beautiful is far away.

Droid engineer or a new class would seem to make the most logical sense to me. Droid engineer is usless at the moment, so that would give them a high demand item.

I recall Holo posting that they would be in the Engineering tree

This has been mentioned in other threads.. I recall a Dev stating that vehicles will NOT be made by players. After getting flamed, the Dev came back and said that at some point in the future, vehicles may be craftable by a new profession.

I wish I had a link to the particular thread to give you, because I know it's hard to take someone's word on something like this.

I think the system should include both. Player and system created vehicles. Just give PVehicles better stats or mountable guns etc... Systemcreated vehicles could be something like a speeder etc... something without any specials.

I would personally like to see a flyable shuttle, not into outer space, just something to get out of the attack range of creatures. i.e. Traversing Endor without being attacked by a 100 creatures before you get to the other side (for a newbie to endor anyway).

I thought I read to awhile back (so im sure this has been changed) that they were thinking about putting them in the Eng IV.

Owako,

While I cannot deny that giving we DEs the ability to make vehicles would indeed give us a high demand item, I don't necessarily think that vehicles really belong in our skill tree.

To my mind, droids are electronic marvels, wonders of miniaturization, and are, at their cores, incredibly sophisticated computers with some darned amazing peripherals attached.

Vehicles are... something else.

This is not to say I don't think DEs should have something to DO with vehicles. I think that adding optional and/or required components to vehicles, various sorts of which can be crafted by all the elite artisan professions, would make a LOT of sense.

A droid storage compartment might just make an excellent 'trunk' (boot for the Brits) for one's Landspeeder, for instance.

Taking a well-deserved vacation from his successful Droid Engineering business, Master Rho can be found puttering around the galaxy.

I recall reading a recent post by the devs saying that vehicles will not be craftable. Although some day in the future they may be. My guess is that by selling them through NPCs they can control the supply of vehicles very easily. Thus they can control the impact of vehicles on the server, sort of like the idea behind city caps.
