Being a newbie to the game I need help with increasing my crafting XP. I have worked my way through marksmen and thought i would try something diferent, however the starting items for crafting are very basic and in my opinion useless. As the items created are useless and of no real help to anybody who would want to use them and therefore increase my xp. Maybe I am wrong and shouldn't hope for an easy solution but I am loath to create objects that will sit in the bazar for a week and then get erased with no XP for me. Thanks for any help that might come my way.

When you can press the button 'craft item' or something like that, check in the down left corner of the window and you will see a box saying 'practice mode'. Checking this box before crafting your item will give you a 5% bonus experience and won't make a item.

If you don't want to do that, you might want to state what server you are playing on, so people can know if they actually can help you or not

Its all about practice mode baby!!

There is really no point in actually creating all those useless items. If you want XP, grind out a bunch of wind survey devices, until you can make wind harvestors (Eng 4??). If its money you want, at this point in the games development you must master an advanced crafting profession, or be a miner and sell resources, which is the hot market right now.

Thanxs for your help but it is not money that I am aftter as I can make that with the marksman skill. My aim is to be able to reach Droid Engineer but I was confused as to how to gain xp through what I saw as worthless items. Obviously I will have to slog my way through using the practice option.

cheers for all your help

Grab a bunch of metal, and craft survey tools, e.g. mineral survey tool, practice mode gives a bonus of 5% to the xp you would receive if you crafted the item. Do this until Engineering 3, then switch to making personal harvesters. From there, it shouldn't take you too long.

Thanxs for your help but I may not have made myself clear. I tried the practice mode when crafting a basic camp and it did give me XP but of the survival flavour as opposed to Artisan Crafting which is what I am attempting to grind. Unless the fact that it was a camp as a opposed to something not related to the scout proffesion and thats why I got survival XP. Either way it will have to wait untill tomorrow now.

I am on the Corbantis server if anybody can help. And I would very much appreciate finding out how others have gone about gaining Artisan Crafting XP.

Cheers

Yes, the fact is that camps grant survival XP for Scouts. Try looking in your skills list and select novice artisan (or any other artisan skill) and see what schematics it gives you, then try to make one of those, and you will see it's a small difference in practice mode and normal

I moved through artisan quickly doing this...

1. get yerself a personal minteral extractor

2. plop it down on a vein of intert petro chem

3. grab about 10k of that, give or take

4. purchase 500 or 1k blocks of hides from the bizarre. you can find it for 3 cpu for sure.

5. grind hide boots all the way to the top (check off practice mode)

6. macro survey for that tree

Of course, you'll want some wind and cash for the mineral harvester. easy enough to come by.

this was fairly painless and fairly quick. im only on about 3 or 4 days a week, 2 or 3 hours a day. only took me a couple of days to do it, which includes time in-game for travel and stuff.

Wind Power Generators give the best total xp, and the wind current survey devices give the best xp per resource unit.
