Guru said (the CU Testing thread):
I've been asking about the loss of the Bone Armor product from the Artisan line. What I was told is that it was removed for a few reasons:
1) Since no novice prof can use any armor, it didn't follow that a novice crafting proft could make it.
2) There were issues with the changes needed to implement the new armor crafting system that made it desirable to consolidate all the armor material into one profession.

Obviously many of us who make our living or at least support our livelyhood with the Artisan profession were dismayed to learn that we would be losing Bone Armor. While my suggestion will not give us a 1-for-1 trade in the number of schematics, I do believe this solution would give us a useful product.
Proposal: Move the schematic for PSG Mark I's to the Engineering IV box
Why this is a viable solution: It does not require any new schematics. This will not deprive another profession of a large money-maker (AS will be busy stocking Mark II's and III's anyway). This solution is not subject to the reasons that Bone Armor was moved;
1) All professions can use PSG's, so why not let a Novice profession make the cheapest version
2) I'm not an AS and I've never crafted PSG's, but I suspect that the changes in the "new armor crafting system" do not affect the crafting of PSG's since they are inherently different schematics than most armors.
Please let me know what you think, any maybe Guru can forward this on to the Devs for consideration.

PS: I'd also love to see a "flak jacket" schematic constructed similarly toa PSG that has minimal kinetic protections (less than a PSG Mk1 does for energy) but is able to be worn by anyone not wearing any other armor. I'd leave it up to the Dev's wether you can wear this with an active PSG, or if it's a one or the other trade-off. I'd see this schematic in the Engineering III,IV, or MA box. If this PS gets any serious consideration, we'd probably prefer stealing the art for the item from another vest and getting this in sooner rather than later

One issue: PSG's don't block any kinetic. 90% of all aggro mobs are kinetic damage. They do nothing for crafters getting aggroed by non-humanoids most of the time. And any normal crafter-bane creature (like shaupauts) will 1 shot you.
Ask them to give us a CDEF PSG vestthat blocks 20% of kinetic and energy. That'd be decent - and make it mount on your chest like a jacket so it couldn't be used with armor.

I thought about a PSG as well, it's a good idea, in my opinion. I'll propose that.
I'm thinking a 'new' PSG which has a simplified schematic (so that all the subcomponents of PSGs don't have to be moved into Artisan too) and lower resists/durability to compensate. As was stated, the CDEF of PSGs.
I'll see what happens.
Thanks,
Guru

How about the Light PSG. An Artisan item at Engineering IV, half as effective as the PSG I that armorers use. Make it so it has no subcomponents.
I think this was a good idea.
