Hey all, new player here. I had an idea for making the Artisan career a little more fun, tell me what you think.

Painting! Why not? I've seen lots of paintings around in player's homes. This would give the opportunity for the artisan to make unique objects, or multiple of the same one for market sales. It would let them do only a few, only one, one original and some prints, or mass produce it. Popular ones would sell very well, and artisans would be in a little more demand I believe.

The Sims 2 has a system by which you can capture a part of the screen and your character will paint what was in the target box. I think this idea would be of great value to the artisan community. Perhaps with advancing levels one could unlock new frame styles and shapes.

Let me know what you guys think!

I think it sounds like a great idea would put the art into artisan

I am half tempted to say the required parts for these self made portraits should be looted and rare tho

would be great to be able to have self portraits of all my guild also would be kool for interior designing would allow you to really goto town on a room theme with paintings of specific locations etc

There is already a profession that deals with paintings... architects.

And personalized paintings arent technically a good idea (imagine a guild hall full of custom paintings, downloading that to everyone who enters is a nightmare)

And they could get into legal problems, as people would pretty fast find a way to abuse this. (think of disabled word filters (and copyright issues if people manage to upload their own RL pictures) )

I am master architect master artisan and think any fresh ideas to come into artisan are good(as I have nearly given up the ghost of the development team remembering architects exist lets face it after nearly 2 years they won't even give us customizable furniture)

I am sure if maxis or whoever runs sims can do this im sure the technical know how must be about for a similar model to be used within this game

I am pretty sure it would never see the light of day(considering the current unsolveable issues with the bestine paintings rounds at present) but new ideas and concepts are always a good thing

if lag is too much of a problem for screen shot paintingswhat about utilising a modified version of the ID screen to customise hair style skin tone eye colour etc etc on 20 set portraits(one for each species and gender) that would give artisans another skill and would add some fun and diversity into the mix aswell

maybe an artisan quest for the inks and canvas etc

as many architects are both master artisan and master architect I don't see this being any great issue purhaps having furniture4 would allow more frame choices
