I don't know how to frame this question fairly, but I am moderately certain that some of the things the dev's are not planning for
Artisans to be able to do are going to lose them customers. If we can demonstrate this with a poll instead of individualized
griping, and then have our Community Rep present this result to them, we will have a much better chance of being heard.
So, that in mind, the main problems I have with the CU are:
1. Artisan Levels are not considered for combat level. This causesquite quick incap's in many situations. EG: The tutorial.
2. The solution to this problem has been presented as, "Go hire a guard."This is unacceptable to me because I LIKE not having to deal
with someone ALL the time to produce anything.

Currently, buffing, armor, and a swoop can get you almost anywhere as even a novice artisan, and you can probably survive for a full five minutes while checking your ten harvesters and inputting power even if you're under comparatively heavy fire.
This will change. Drastically.
Making it a very shaky proposition to get to your harvesters affects all crafting professions quite extensively.
My question for a poll, I guess, becomes:
How negatively would it affect your game if you were unable to place harvesters on adventuring planets without a multiple-player combatant escort?
How negatively would it affect your game if you were unable to place harvesters on adventuring planets without a multiple-player combatant escort?

I agree fried that this will not only hurt Artisans, but chefs, entertainers, dancers, musicians, image designers, shipwrights, droid engineers, armorsmiths, force sensitive, weaponsmiths, tailors, merchants and architects. That's 13 professions that will be adversely affected by the change in armor certification.
Within Guru's CU feedback thread and a couple others it has been proprosed that we get a Light PSG, A Helmet ( similar in design to the Tantive IV Rebel Fleet Troopers, or the the Death Star Troopers....heck maybe both and neutral one ) and a Vest. Read over there bout them and express your support. So far the devs aren't moving to much on this.
Now it will not as badly effect: Brawlers, Medics ( how they count to CL I don't know ), Combat Medics, Doctors, Teras Kasi, Swordsman, Fencer, Pikemen, Pistoleer, Carbineer, Rifleman, Creature Handler, Squad Leader, Bounty Hunter, Commando and Jedi. That's 16 professions.
Thus the change to armor certs with no viable alternative is affecting approx 45% of all professions in the game. Now you take into account that most crafters have more than one account, this could affect much more of the accounts in the game.
I hope Guru can get the Light PSG, and the Helmer and Vest ideas to go.
There is simply not enough people on the servers to fulfill the needs of crafters wanting to go to and from factories and to and from cities as bodyguards.
