Thread: Barc repair kit. Worth the effort making it?

I just saw a barc speeder for sale and the owner claims that a disabled barc can be repaired at any garage.

I thought only the barc repair kit could bring it back to life? Don't tell me that I wasted all my time mining in space to get the resources to make that tool to find out that it's worthless? Tell me it's not so and I'll take it off my list of 'ever-on-going' disappointments every time I log into the game. I don't own a barc, so I can't test that theory, I was not willing to invest any more money to pay for additional frustrations. Plase let me know.

Thanks

The BARC is currently bugged and can be repaired (for some players, not all) at a vehicle garage

Warryyr,

I had the same thing happen to me when trying to mine my FIRST 500 whatever it was on the first space mining mission... no chunks would come off.

I was told that it was probably bugged, and that i should just destroy it (down to 0) and let it respawn... that's what i did and when it respawned, it worked fine.

I know, waste of time to have to do this to let it re-spawn so that we can go after chunks.

Anyway, just letting you know my experience in making it spawn its chunks.. good luck!

Thanks so much, I remember having it stuck when an asteroid was around 1000/3000 condition, and i just blew it up. Then it worked okay (this was for the Carbonaceous stuff). I was just really frustrated and angry when one petrochem asteroid (asteroid #2 on Starsider) just plain never gave off chunks though it was near full health, and the other (#1) had a billion Tier 3's all over, who kept tearing me up - while I slowly chipped away at the 3000+ condition left on it.

Ugh - so frustrating.

Thanks for the info, I'll just get a rubberband or something and put it over the trigger for my mining laser, and let the stupid thing chip away until a new one spawns.

Given these kits are how newbies get their BARC's fixed (or at least, how they're supposed to) I think it's a shame that these asteroids are so screwed up.

Seems like chain reaction bugs, mining the Carbon and Petro Asteroids and making a barc tool from it that may not be needed. I share your mining frustration as well and the fact that sometimes you need to destroy the Asteroid so it respawns with 'mineable' chunks. I like that rubberband idea, to lock down the laser weapon cause it takes a lot of shots to destroy an Asteroid that still has high condition numbers. Now on the other hand, yesterday I mined one of the two Petro Asteroids at Yavin IV and got chunks to fly until the Asteroid's condition went all the way to 0, respawned and never ran out. I filled my cargo hold ( 1550 unit capacity,) in a short time without being attacked ones. This is my way of mining but I'm sure everyone has their own method.

1. I fly within 600 meters of the Asteroidand the slow my speed to about 330 to 320 but still flying into the Asteroid.

2. I open fire with the mining laser and observe the small explosions taking place on the surface of the Asteroid and listen for the metallic clang the impacts make.

3. When a chunk breaks off, there is an audible 'beep' sound and sometimes it breaks off behind the Asteroidand you can't target it until you fly around to the back to find it.

4. As soon as I see it floating (it will have blue rounded corners, like an outline of a frame, indicating it as a target), I hit the 'X' key showing the target reticle, the 'M' key to match it's speed and then blast away. I use the same procedure for the smaller chunks that break off, they explode completely and those are the ones that fill your cargo bay.

Go back to step 1, rinse and repeat.

Anyway, like I said, everyone has their favorite method. I like the option to examine the Asteroid before I get to itand it works from a long distance if you have the wp activated. Keep clicking the 'Y' key and whatever has a name that floats in space will be indicated and shown in the upperright corner of your screen. WhenI come to the Petrochemical Asteroid, I examine itand if the condition is low, I may just fly to it and blow it up so it respawns or fly to theother one and give it a shot. I use the same method for the Carbonaceous Asteroid in the Nabooin sector.

Which is just fabulous because I spent almost 1/2 hour trying desperately to get anything after my first initial couple of asteroid chunks off of a petrochem asteroid, but failed horribly.

I don't care about spending some serious time to mine this junk.

I DO care about asteroids that are bugged and will not spawn chunks off, hence no petrochem asteroid, hence no BARC repair kits for me.

What the heck is going on with this, how can I alleviate my problems, when is this getting resolved, and so on.

The asteroid was 3650/4200 or so condition, NOTHING popping off to mine it, it just took my mining laser shots like a big sponge.

This by far is a LOT more frustrating than just spending the time mining this stuff - when I CAN mine it, it takes awhile, but oh well. When I waste my time shooting at asteroids that refuse to spawn chunks so I can mine it, it thoroughly and effectively prevents me from creating ONE of these kits yet.

What the heck is going on with asteroids? Anyone know? Why will they not spawn asteroid chunks to break up? When is this getting fixed?

This issue is especially stupid to deal with in Yavin space, with those annoying and swarming Tier 3 fighters blasting away at me endlessly while I proceed to get absolutely nothing for my time.

What's the scoop with asteroid mining?

There is only a finite number of chunks that will break off the main asteroid. What I believe is happening on the asteroids that are not spawning any chunks is that someone that doesn't know what they're doing is just blasting away at the main asteroid causing many, many chunks to break off, and not utilizing them all. Eventually the main asteroid runs out of chunks, but still has some health left over. Once the main is destroyed, a new one spawns that works fine.

I've noticed this alot on the asteroids that are required for the mining quests, especially the first few asteroids that are required during the quests, and the asteroids that are the closest to the planatary space stations.

I had a Petrochem asteroid last night that finally gave me zero issues the whole time, just like astroid mining should be.

Still took awhile (I need the Class II mining laser) but I made 2 kits, so at least I can provide them to people who might want them.

I priced 'em at 250k. I imagine they'll be a hot commodity again once they fix this stupid "repair at garage" bug. What's the status on that?
