Thread: Harvester Advice
I always go for quality, when I can. Really, it's a matter of whether quality matters for what you're building. Some things need good stuff, some it's not so important.
I'm not a fan of static harvesters, i'd rather spend the credits to move to resources I really want. Surveying is time consuming sometimes, but usually you can find a 70% or greater spot (so that your credit expenditure is worth the amount of resources you get out of it).
Remember - you will not always have a good concentration at your harvesters. Resources shift after about 5 or 7 days. If the best you've got is a 30% spot, you'll get hardly anything to recoup your expenses for maintenance that week. Just a thought.
When nothing on my "wanted list" is spawning good stuff, I go for quantity then, to sell. People always need cheap steel to grind on, and the bicorbantium and hardened arveshium steels tend to stay in spawn for a couple of weeks (so you can really get some nice stockpiles).

I would not rely on static fields to get what you need.
I personally have a few accounts, and I realize that most people don't, so please bear with me.
Not long ago here, some nice Duralloy steel popped up and I went hunting for a good spot. I kept searching and seaching and only found spots between the 50% range. Well, after combing Naboo for some time, I finally found a great spot: 93-91%, and I set up 25 heavy harvesters. I spent a lof money to buy enough power deeds to power 35 harvs all of the time, so I definitely save money on that. But, after like 6-7 days on this 90%+ spot, I pulled over 4 million units of steel.
But, surveying can be a B!TCH. I know. What I like to do is, is to check the corners of the map and work my way inward, and always keep waypoints to flat spots that can support 35 heavy harvesters of any type.
Always check www.swgcraft.com for the latest updates on what resources have been out, and for how long they have been around. And what I always do, every day, and this does not take long if you have JTL, is to just jump from planet to planet and just use your survey tool. It will tell you what resources you can survey for. If you find some thing new, get a sample--it may be UbEr!!!
That is what I do. Everyone has the way that they do it. I do have a static field of 20 power gens, and I just sell that power when I can get it. But, overall, I would not rely on static harvs for what you need. It is so much better to move from a spot that has 3% to 83%.
