should you buy or harvest your resources on the grind trail? and if buying, what is a good money source on the side?

first, if you have your respec available, DO NOT GRIND SHIPWRIGHT. It will cost you alot of money, you need over 5mil units of resources. What I did is grind Architect then respec to SW. MUCH cheaper.

I have always found it easier to harvest my own resources. Seems that when I've gone resource shopping, the people with a good selection sold in huge lots that were too expensive for my budget at the time. There is no shortage of available harvesters on most servers and you usually can find good ones cheap with the vendor search. I would recommend getting the best harvesters you can afford initially. It will help you later. You can always sell your excess resources/power for some cash.

All depends on the price structure on your server.
I bought all the resources I needed - at 2 cpu. Use global search to find even better deals. Grind ship chassis, it's really fast - and don't destroy them, try to sell them insteadto recover your money.
If you need a source of extra income get yourself some BER 14 fusion power generators and sell the energy you get. On my server at least there's always shortage of energy on vendors... I never find any when I need.
