Thread: Good Macro
Funny thing is, no Carbineer worth a darn has a macro for PvP shots. The ability of the Carbineer is to not spam one or two specials, but adapt to the given situation. You must become familar with over 10 Specials and the way they work together, along with the weapons.
No macros for the Carbineer.....his greatest weapon is his MIND.
Review the STICKY post describing the Specials and DPS, along with the Mitigation info and then we can be more specific ![]()

Bingo.
I have a macro that is something like this:
/ui action clearCombatQueue
/wildShot1
/fullAutoSingle2
/chargeShot1
/cripplingShot x 10
I have a similar one for area. I like using macros alot, but I find in PvP I clear this macro alot to take advantage of other specials. Its great in pve too, especially the area macro. It saves me the trouble of pressing alot of buttons.

My whole point exactly.....I find myself using nearly the same shots to start PvP, but must remain flexible.
Ive been thinking about making a 'last resort' kind of macro. When fighting someone with stacked defenses, after kd and posture change attempts have failed, and states have been applied I usually resort to the follow
/scatterShot2 x 1000
I havent made a macro of that yet, but I think it would probably help me alot.
More important than a macro is to have a perfectly adapted for your playstylekeyboard layout. If you can't hit your fullautosingle2, scattershot2, chargeshot2, suppressionfire2, fullautoarea2, burstshot2, etc keys with your eyes closed you have no place in PvP.
And just as importantly, you need to what to use when and why.

very true

That's so true. I put my most used/most important specials all on the top row of my toolbar. Other less used specials go on the bottom. I use the spaces between F8/F9 and F4/F5as my indexes, asthey areeasy to feel while looking at the screen. My most important "gotta hit it right now" shots are adjacent to those spaces so I can feel for and find them when I need them.
Another thing I do, since I usually find myself switching between carbines and swords/sticks, is use a toolbar changing macro I made. I have a toolbar for fencer specials and a toolbar for carbineer specials. In the F1 slot of each toolbar, I have a macro that switches to the other toolbar and selects the weapon placed in the F2 slot (I keep most of my weapons on toolbar slots for easy changing of them).
The third thing I have done was map a /ui action clearCombatQueue macro to my mouse's wheel button (Mouse Button 3). A tactic I find myself using often is to spam a speciala bunch oftimesto geta certain state effect on the target. Once it sticks, I clear my combat queue and spam another special to get its state on them. It also comes in handy for when you need to heal yourself or a buddy.
