Thread: Static or Shifting Resources?

Hey, sorry if there's already a thread for this somewhere, but I wasn't seeing it.

I was wanting to know which servers have shifting resources and which ones haven't changed at all.

I'm a Weaponsmith on Radiant, and I've noticed a few others have mentioned their servers don't change resources, so I was wondering how many that is and which ones.

Radiant has static resources, which is both a curse and a credit. It allows us to document very specifically the stats and locations of every type of resource in the game, as well as waypoint every concentration we want and mine the thunder out of the good stuff (and we got some really good stuff). But, since there are only certain types of resources, it makes it impossible to craft the advanced equipment. For example, there is no way for me to craft things like the SG82, and every schematic (except the EE3 Carbine) in the Master Firearms box is impossible to build. So I often have to tell people asking about Laser carbines and advanced weaponry that there is no way on this server to currently make that item. Thankfully, we were blessed with the right type of iron to make the E11's, but the advanced components are out of the question.

One neat thing about it, whether good or bad, is seeing the landscape literally covered with extractors all mining an enormous amount of minerals. There is a spot (one of many) on Naboo where you can run for 300 meters and still be surrounded by extractors and wind generators. It really is quite awe-inspiring.

Sorry for the divergence, but please reply with your server and tell whether or not it has shifting resources, I'm curious to see how odd our galaxy is.

On Kauri, resources shift.

There's one misconception that I see a few people perpetuating so I'll address it here. Resources on whole don't shift every 5-8 days. What happens is individual resources spawn and deplete over a 5-8 day period. there will be no more massive shifts such as that experienced after launch. The spawn times will only get more and more spread out across the board as time goes on because of the random days till depletion. Waves of depletioin will dissolve into little bumps of coincedental depletions.

If I had my choice, I'd still be a Creature Handler.

ALL servers and planets have resource migration.

Umm...let's see - exactly the same resources with exactly the same concentrations on every planet since the first day it went live. I've never seen any shifting or depletion as long as I've been on the server.

Resources on Naboo/Lowca have not shifted since day one.

We started out with some really nice resources on Eclipse. Luckily I collected a few thousand units of high quality copper....the hard way....by sampling. I missed out on some great Duralloy Steel though.

On July 14th about 13 new minerals appeared and about 8 old ones stayed. A day or two later we got 3 new ones added to these. Since these changes occur in the dark of night I try to log on and open my survey tool each morning before work. This allows me to see right away if there have been major changes without going out to my little windmill or my harvester.

I find it fun to hunt down the really good resources to make a high quality item. I hope the rest of you are having as much fun as I.

That will give you an idea of the planets/servers that have been experiencing shifting resources.

Hmmmm. This is interesting. I would have thought resources behaved the same on all servers. Anyway, I am on Bloodfin Corellia. The metals and petros rotate in pretty much en masse. Then after 5 - 6 days the best of them begin to go away. Over about a 4-5 period they all pretty much deplete to the point you have 3-4 of each. Then a whole new list comes in.

I've been mining since day one and last night our third rotation of resources came in. I don't know how flora behave because I haven't mined them that much.

Oh, and there is a delay until you can sample them. All last night I got the low density message.

Resources on Lowca don't shift. But from what I hear we're the only one left with static resources.
