Thread: Does Fiberplast Panel quality matter?
If all you want is a fiberplast panel (to put in armor/clothing), does it matter if you use high-quality or low-quality materials?
You can experiment with the durability of fiberplast panels. is there any reason to do so?
Near as I can see, Fiberplast panels are listed with no stats whatsoever. So I'm beginning to think that they all really ARE the same.

I've been experimenting with air cake (I think that's what it's called, it needsdough, carbosyrup, and fruit). Carbosyrup says that the flavor/potential energy/overall quality of ingredients affect every stat during creation. Well if I make agood carbosyrup (my skills arent that high, so good means around 10%), and use it to make the air cake, I can see an increase inall stats of about 4 or 5 on the finished cake. I then tried a carbosyrup using crappy ingredients (came out to about 1-2%) and the air cake I created only had +1 in all stats. (In both cases the cake had a high strength mod, which is the main stat for that food).
So I think intermediate ingredients do affect the quality of the final product. The problem is that there's no way to see what the qualities of the intermediate ingredient is.
'for clothing with sockets'
ALL clothing has sockets if it is experimented to a high enough level. There are currently 3 broken clothing schematics (see my Artisan issues thread). But just this last week, I made one of each article of clothing - and all of them turned out socketed with the exception of the broken schematics.

If we assume that clothing and armor making is like architecture, panel quality *might* matter to your success rates.
We haven't been able to empirically confrim, but anecdotal evidence in the architect discussions indicates that higher quality parts = less critical failures.
If someone is going to create a large number of panels and then actually use them to make stuff, why not help test the theory? Create at least 20 panels taht have low stats and the same number of them with high stats. Then make a bunch of clothing or armor with the same tool, and compare the results.
Don't do anything else while you're doing it to avoid other possible effects we don't know about yet, then post your results.
I can't pinpoint it... but I believe it makes a difference.
In making 25% resist bone armor, I have come to the following conclusion. Fiberplast panel quality doesn't matter. Bone segment matters some, but not that much. If I use total crap for the fiberplast and the bone panel, I still get a starting point of 14%, 18% 18% on the final piece, before experimenting.
The only place it *might* come into play is in the failure rate for experimenting, but even there, I don't think so.
I have tested this extensively and have found no correlation between fiberplast panel and final results.
Just a note, the new Corellian fiberplast on Corbantis is much better than the old stuff (Ime). I sampled some this morning before beakfast and it's much better for fiberplast panels. Unfortunately I cannot remember the name right now. It's the only fiberplast on Corellia so get out your scanners. I found a 96% spot right outside Kor Vella, unfortunately too close for a harvester but I was able to pull enough out for about 25 or so fiberplast panels.
It would be helpful if you mentioned your galaxy, Zarg ![]()
On Gorath, we just got some really high vein percent on fiberplast just outside Theed, but it's junk
Ahh well.
