Thread: Is there any guide to what stats are important for each type of resource?
I understand that, I was looking for a guide or something that tells me what to look for on each resource. Say if I find some polymer, what stats are most important for polymer? Overall Quality, Mallability, decay resistance, etc. I know each item you make is different but I would think that the same resources would be used and the same stats on said resource would need to be good.

The best place to check is the schematics for what you're looking at building. Or ask the artisans you want to sell to what they're looking for.
So for a CDEF pistol, the percentages look something like this (going from memory)

So, the "weighting" on the materials is 50/50 DR and OQ. I do a quick calculation where I add these weighted values together to determine the best material. If I just want to maximize the effectiveness: (Conductivity) * 0.50 + (Overall Quality) * 0.50, and use the material with thehighest resulting number.
Now things get more complicatd if there are a lot of categories, each depending on different qualities. If you focus on just one (like Armor Effectiveness), you use the same type of calculations as above. If you want to determine what the best overall (which may not be the best for a particular category), then weight and add *all* the properties. So for the CDEF pistol above, the calculation would be: DR * 0.50 + OQ * 0.50 + Con *0.50 + OQ * 0.50. This will determine the materials that will give the best overall Durability and Effectiveness in combination, but will likely not get you as good in either category as what you'd get focusing on just that (since Copper with high conductivity usually isn't that Decay Resistent).
There is a "Resource Quality Calculator" at swgcraft.com (under tools) that does this calculation, and it looks like you can even do the multiple property check (since it doesn't worry if the percentages are more than 100%).
Conductivity and Overall Quality are used for Ranged weapons.
Shock Resistance and Unit Toughness are used for Melee weapons (more SR than anything else).
On non-Metals, Overall Quality is most used. (If a resource does not have the stat for the weapon it's being placed into, it uses its Overall Quality).
