I have made a nice living selling fiberplast at wholesale prices, but to do so I have to have large quantities of the stuff.

I have to spend 5000cr per harvester and time to move each harvester. It is really getting tough...

Any idea as to why shifting is in the game?

To stop people like "hand solow" and "Bubba Sparxx" from sitting on a copper mine and obtaining 23723949237 units of copper, thus rendering all resources worthless, and granting the artisan class a 3 hour ticket to master artisan.

The only thing I don't like about it is no warning.

An in-game email in the form of a holonet report would suffice.

It IS tough and frustrating to place a harvester only to find out that the resources changed 3 minutes afterward.

I like the way it works. You have to pay attention. You have down time. You have expenses related to shifting.

You have to keep track of which resources changed when. If you run out on one and immediately put your harvester on another one, it might be one that is also due to run out soon, or is close to being exhausted.

Here is how to do it. Wait till a new resource pops up. Then, if you like it, plant your harvesters. You will likely have 8 or 9 days before it goes away. For the first few days, you can pay way ahead, but as you come closer to the expected changeover time, only pay a day at a time.

If you do not know how long a resource has been up, then only pay one day at a time on it.

I think it makes the game much more interesting. It adds some spice. You are sitting there crafting away or stocking your vendor or whatever, you check your survey device and see your old resource just disappeared, or you see a new tasty one just appeared. You drop what you are doing and go take care of it. Redeed or reset the old one, plant a new one.

I like the fact that they shift, reduces the ability of a few to dominate the resources. However, the fact you can not get anything back from the harvester (Maintenance Pool or Power Reserve) is very irritating, especially if you just plopped one down, fed it 4 or so days worth of power and cash.. only to have the resources shift a few hours later.

..should be a way to relaim the cash/power from the thing.

The only thing I would like to see changed is that harvesters change to the next highest concentration resource on a given site so that way I'm not wasting money and fuel mining for nothing. The technologyu should be at LEAST that intuitive.
