Hello,

I have 2 questions that I have been wondering about, and I can not find the answers here in the forums.

First, kinda important; I have Survey 4, and when I walk on to a planet, and activate my handy dandy Mineral Surveying Device, does it show EVERY mineral that can be found on that planet at that time? Or, must I travel all over the planet to different towns/areas and activate it again to see what is there?

Second, just curious really; Where do all my Survey points go to after I reach Survey 4? I keep receiving Survey points but I dont see any balance of my current amount or what skill they could be going towards.

When asking a specific question about a profession, you should use a profession forum. This one would best go in the Artisan one.

Anyway, when you get Survey IV, you can set your surveying devices to have a much larger range than the other ones you were using before. However, it is limited to 320 meters. This means that after you travel 160 meters in any given direction, you have to activate it again to have it stretch out again. The name is misleading in that you think you've got the ability to do a "global" search, but it's just a label to tell you that you're a well-trained professional when it comes to finding resources.

As for surveying xp accumulation, you'll go all the way up to +20000 surveying xp, but it doesn't do you any good. It's just a mark on your sheet without relevance. But, you can surrender the skill and learn it again, if you want.

Just thought i would help clarify a bit:

1. When you walk onto any planet, and open your scanner, you get a list of materials to survey for. That list is indeed a complete list of what can be found on that planet. This list will change on each planet every few days because they have a material rotation to help provide a dynamic economy as well as avoid people from monopolizing certain materials.Survey 4 simply increases the range in which you cansurvey for a single material at a time, even at survey I you get a complete list of materials on the planet.

2. After survey 4, there is no use for survey exp, your survey exp is capped at 20k. However it is handy, if you decided to drop survey and use those points for something else, if you ever decided to re-learn survey, you already have all the exp, i guess that is a plus
