I play on Chilastra. I have a tailor/armorsmith and a buddy who is a weaponsmith. We need various rare minerals from time to time (actually, all the time because they are never available.) I sent my alt surveyor character out to scan the galaxy for these rare minerals and I was in for quite a surprise. Almost all the planets have almost identical resources. WHAT THE @!#!@# is the point of going around the galaxy looking for rares when there are only 3 available and they are on all the planets. I mean, neutronium steel was virtually non-existant until the magical resource shift on Sunday when a buddy of mine tells me its on Lok. We brave through the numerous dangers of Lok to find a good 82% spot and set up harvesters and sample away. I finally make it back to Tatooine and I start asking around to see if any of my armorsmith friends need it and I hear that its also available on Corellia and Naboo. My alt finds it on every planet except Tatooine. What a crock! Also a rare gemstone type, every planet. A rare copper, every planet. All the rares that I currently need, NOT ON ANYPLANET.

Someone needs to fix this resource screw up. Being a tailor, I was excited to find that I was going to be able to make bounty hunter packs at field 2 but wondered why I had never seen one. Well, when I found out it needed Thoranium Steel, I figured it out. IT DOESN'T EXIST! Apparently, it hasn't existed for quite some time either and when it does finally arrive it will probably be on almost every planet. Does anyone else see how screwy this is.

I think an ideal system would be tohave rare resources pop up often but for limited times on out of the way, and sometimes starter planets. That way someone like me doesn't have to wait weeks or months just to build that pack or armor that I want because the ingredients don't exist. And if I spend the time and go find it, it has a decent chance of actually being out there.

Spending 20k travelling the galaxyto find the same friggin' resources over and over again really cheeses me off.

Just to throw some information at you, I have a personal extractor gathering Link-Steel Aluminum from a 72% site on Tatooine on the Lowca server. it's been there for quite a while. If you're on Lowca, I'd be happy to sell you some, I have in excess of 15,000 units.

I agree. I am a weaponsmith also. I have traveled to every planet (spending excess of 25K) and have yet to find a source of link-steel aluminum. Every weapon i wish to craft requires it. In addition, I have yet to see a green crystalline gemstone. They really do need to fix the resource issue. IU hope the next shift comes soon and i can find what i need.

Well, I do have to admit I didn't pay the 6600cr round trip to Yavin to check there but since every other planet was near identical, it seemed like a complete waste of money. Last night I had both my characters on and looked up the resources on Dathomir and Tatooine and besides maybe 2 minerals, the minerals available were identical. What a crock.

I had read in these forums earlier about people who would be ranger-surveyor types who could head out to dangerous places to mine rare resources and sell them to crafters. This would bea great and fun hybrid profession. Key word here, "would".

Devs, please tell us that resources are not intended to be this way.

I often find the quality varies greatly from planet to planet. Steel on Talus, is not steel on Tatooine, even if they are in the same resource class.
