if you're a casual gamer (maybe 3-4 hours a day) is it worth it to try the artisan route? when i first heard of the game i wanted to be a droid engineer or a weaponsmith and a ranger (like the idea of exploring)...butat first glance itlooks to methat by the time i actually got tonovice*insert elite artisan skill here*with the time i have to play...everyone will be flying from planet to planet intheir own x-wings while i'm scraping enough creds together to not lose the deed to the blanket i huddleunderin the rain just outside of townbegging people to buy myshiny but useless and inferior baubles (i mean, who's going to buy my cdef pistol or my basic shirt 6 months down the line when someone else is selling "kill everyone and their mama" guns and "Georgio Arman-dalorian" shirts)?

and if the artisan skill isn't forpeople who have bucketloads of time but still want to advance through their professions and keep up in some way, what skill tree did they have in mind when they said it was for casual and hardcore gamers alike?

thanks for your help...

very confused

I'm a casual gamer myself and since release I have mastered artisan and worked a ways up in tailoring. Originally I was weaponsmithing but too many masters on my server to compete with. Point is that yes you can do plenty of quality gaming in those 3-4 hours a day. That's about how much I get in, weekends a little more. So go ahead and have at it.

I'm not sure whether "Georgio Arman-dalorian" or your name of "wet wookie farts" is funnier. XD

Personally, I have a ton of time to play. In just a week, I'm almost to novice Tailor, and that's while dabbling in marksman and also getting faction points doing missions for the Empire.

If I can do this in a week, under a week actually, with a good 8-9 hours a day to play, then you should be able to do the same, in about twice as long/three times as long, right?

If you want to be an artisan, go right ahead. I don't think you'll be too terribly left behind. Eventually, you'll be able to catch up, when the others hit the skill cap.

I am a casual gamer and an artisan. I am having a great time working my way up the artisan skill tree. The nice thing about SWG is that you can do a number of activities that don't require intense interactions. Sampling is the most obvious. I can do a number of things on the other computer (like play EQ) and only occasionally have to pay attention to the SWG box. If you spend a few hours making quality items and putting them on the bazaar, you can come back in the next day or two and find you made a nice chunk of change. On the nights that you can spend more time and attention and want a little more intensity you can get destroy missions and blow away stuff. This game is definitely suited to both casual and power gamers.

The artisan is a nice class to do in 2-3 hours a day. If you like to sell your items, it takes many hours to sell what you make. 24-48 hours for everything to sell. I'll sit down and craft maybe 10-20 items in an hour and put them on the bazaar for sale. Then I'll go do other things like survey for a good quality resource or explore the city and see what different things NPC want me to do, or sit in the Cantina and chat. When I log in the next day, I'll have a bunch of emails of things I've sold. I can then sit down and craft, starting the process all over again.

Since I put up my vendor I am finding that I can not craft fast enough as a casual player to keep some of my stuff stocked. I expect I'll have to work up some contacts to make me stuff. Note i am trying to be a casual gamer, so I stay married. :-)
