I am reposting this from the main board, as there are so many rants/flames/nerf requests there that this slides right off the board.

My origonal post is at:

And here is the repost:

Daver Said:

On live, I can get deliveries from Bestine to the other major Tat cities that pay in the 600-800 range each. On TC, they pay 300-400.

I really hope this is not the case. It will be the demise of many stuggling artisans.

Why?

Well, the novice artisan just doesn't sell all that much. If you are like me, a DE, you need to be able to sell at least basic probots and R5's or super-mice with at least a healing and crafting station in them. And a full fledged basic probot takesaround 14material types, totaling over 1000 resource units, spread through 11 components. This gives you about 2500 exp, and takes about 20 minutes to craft. And they just don't sell that well.

Similar scenarios apply to architects, weaponsmiths, and armorsmiths.

A small harvester takes 720 credits and 600 energy a day to maintain, not accounting for losses in money and energy if there is a resource shift.

True, you can sell powerups. But powerups take (albiet a small amount of) materials to make, cannot be improved in a factory, and do not apply experience to your elite profession.

So, many novice crafters spend a few hours a day running delivery missions to support their hoppers in the hope of becoming skilled enough to be able to compete with the Masters that appeared in the first few weeks of the game.

At this point, there is no plan for makinglower level crafters viable in terms of self-suffiency.

So, I ask/beg the devs, Please do not nerf the delivery mission payouts. It will slow my already horribly slow advancement to the point where I can actually sell enough of what I produce to not have to run these missions.

Low level marksman missions will also be nerfed.

And I am a marksman as well - and you cannot pull out your portable crafting station droidand craft while running delivery missions. You can do so while waiting for the shuttle.

How much of a fighter do you have to be to be a successful crafter, assuming you don't have a large PA backing you?

What about the entertainer/crafters? They hardly ever get tipped.

The doctor/crafters? They don't get tipped either that much, and healing costs a lot more than people think.

This games "econmoy" is starting to look like something a drug lord in Columbia thought up:

1. Let a few people take over the top money makeing profession (Weaponsmith) then fix the exploit so no one else can, but let all the cheaters keep their skills and money, making it impossible for anyone else to compete.

2. Then take away the only other way for a non fighter to make money (make the deliver missions worthless).

3. So in the end the only people making money is a small "cartel" of weaponmakers, while everyone else has to resort to beating up Jawas to get some pocket change.

I must hand it to the devs. Took them only a month to BREAK this "player driven economy" they were hyping before the game shipped.

Perhaps instead of grinding your way to DE you should have been selling those Artisan wares along the way while the xp meant something.

I sell food & drink all the time started with the most basic stuff, now I'm dom IV. dom IV stuff sells great.

I sell harvesters for 900cr, no xp for non-arch's, but then neither are delivery missions

Bone armor always sold well aswell.

Resources sell excellent. Easily fund harvesters selling fraction of their take at 2-3cr per.

Droid batteries sold.

Firworks did not

Nothing made me fantastically rich but I went from 0 to 90,000 credits, have lots of resources in my bag, going minning concern and many skills.

Finally, if you bothered looking at what was actualy on test you would notice there are artisan terminals now with 2 types of missions.

btw when I was on test the other thing I notices were all the mission terminals only showed 2 missions at a time.

ok, perhaps I am not doing things in an efficient manner.

I do my missions, grind a bit, and craft out the best droids I can. I sell a probot every other day. Same with med droids.

I may be at the break even point, where I can make stuff, and support myself. Many are not. What is the aspiring artisan supposed to make?

I'd like to point out that there will not be crafting missions you can take. So one no longer needs to do delivery missions.

As of right now, for checking the TS forums, crafting missions are broken. If you fail to craft the item, you wind up with a schematic in your datapad that you cannot use, and cannot get rid of.

They also don't pay much.

As long as they covered the cost of the resources I'd be happy.
