I'm a novice Artisan (2-0-0-2), but i'm going for master, and i was just wondering what can i make that gives me the most Crafting XP?

And i'm also wondering how the Survey Xp is calculated. Can't seem to find any pattern.

The XP formula is simple:

2xp * (Resources Used)

I'm not entirely sure how it handles components, but then you've already been paid the 2xp per resource for making it in the first place. There may be a bit more for using it in another schematic.

You also get a 5% xp bonus if you check the 'Practice' box, so that's worth doing if you're just grinding. Experimentation gives you no extra xp.

And I've not seen any kind of logic behind Survey XP. Just have to dig and be happy with what you get.

So the more components needed, the more crafting xp i get?

Complexity has nothing to do with it?

Thx for the info

To answer your question matter of factly simply grind out general crafting kits in practice mode till you get Eng 3. Then start grinding out harvesters and sell them on the bazzar to fund your lil escapade. If you have the resources needed on hand you can grind out master artisan minus the survey exp in a little under 5 hrs.

I would disagree with the crafting tool/harv method for financing yourself and leveling.

The galaxy is FULL of personal harvs and you will be hard pressed to get more than 400 creds per and that is a LOSS to you. Believe me, the market is flooded with 100-300 creds personal harvs and the market on crafting tools is even smaller.

IMHO, one should make things that SELL WELL to make the foundation of their income. Travel Packs! The galaxy can't ever seem to get enough of them and they sell WELL at 500 creds per which gives PROFIT, not just replacement of the cash you used to get the resources. I made probably 500 travel packs as I went through artisan and they sold all day, every day. Plus they have no subcomponents and with a few crafting tools, your xp will go faster than you could imagine....well, not that fast, but faster than with any other item.

Furniture is also a VERY good thing to be crafting right now. TONS of new houses and structures all needing full decoration and us interior decorator masters seem to be in short supply. Additionally, people will bitch and moan about the prices of a harv or house, but seem to (for some unknown reason) not blink twice about spending 3k on a couch or 3.5k on a bed.

Go where the money is son!

When vehicles are out they will be PERFECT for grinding. 2500 exp per bike, 3300 exp per car. They're like Gungan Head Statues for artisans. Unfortunately they require Eng IV, but you can still use them to grind to MA or to a nice elite crafting profession.

Here is my trick....

use a generic crafting tool and a weapon crafting tool. You could simulatously craft CDEF rifle using it. Which yield approx 60xp. If using two crafting tools, it yield 120XP ehhe

Went from Eng I - Eng IV easily in a couple of hours heheh

Yeah, the only tough part is getting up to Engineering 3. After that, artisan is cake. I think I made clothes until I hit Engineering 3. After that, I burnt through about a hundred wind generators. The surveying takes time. I do not think AFK macros work anymore, so you will need to type out a long macro, and let it run for an hour or so. I did the everything (except for survey) in a few hours. I have a little left on survey 4, so I should be all done soon after I log on next.

My only advice, is to craft while surveying. If you can get a would be novice medic to sit with you and craft/use stimpacks, you can both benefit. He gets experience for healing your action. Its a nice trade off, and makes the time go by faster.

Good luck....

Well, it depends on why you want xp. If you're self-funded from another more successful profession (Holocron), then the Wind Harvesters in Practice mode is the fastest way to level, cash not withstanding.

If you need to pay for your own education, then you need to do a bit more research. Wind Harvesters are NOT the way to go, because everyone grinding Artisan makes a billion of these, and the market is extremely over-supplied on all types of Personal Harvester.

The silly part of it all is that no-one with any kind of product awareness buys grind-harvesters anyway, since they all have Base Extract 1 usually. Experimentation is crucial if you are making items you hope to actually sell, but this greatly increases the time to make each item, so is not practical for basic grindind. Experiemented Personal Harvesters usually have BER 4, (8 for Wind), and so are much more useful. Many people don't realise this, hence the expectation that ALL Personal Harvesters are only 'worth' 300cr or whatever, and most of these simply never sell.

Items that do sell well from the Artisan set include: Ranged Powerups, Bone Armour Bits, Weapon/Armour/etc Repair Kits, Food and Drink Buffs, Some Clothing.

By 'well', I don't necessarily mean 'for a lot'. Mostly the Artisan Schematics exist as a taster for the various elite professions. To sell things, make a bit of everything, price them reasonably (3-6cpu), and just note what sells and what doesn't, but for anything with stats, experimentation is crucial.

XP: Practice Mode

Cash: Experiementation

With so many people grinding Artisan, it's naive to just grind and dump the results on the market in base form and expect to make your 'loss' back, let alone profit.

Hi everyone.

Don't flame me because I don't remember when skill got me there, but as soon as you are able to make deeds for PME,WG ect...

Make them none stop and keep clearing your inventory when it's full, and you will get 400XP per deed!!! You can get 2000xp in 5 minutes, but you must be able to get the resources, i.e: setup several 8 PME's and 2 WG's and keep doing crafting missions for half the time your playing to make up the maintenance fee's...........

Once you get to Master you should be set to go your own way.
