Thread: So you wanna be a correspondent.

Better get those applications sent in.

Earlier this week, I notified the Devs that I was giving 2 weeks notice as the Artisan Correspondent. I assumed (a VERY bad thing to do as a correspondent) that TH would put out a request for applications, but it hasn't happened - so I am giving the heads up myself.

Here's the deal. Correspondent = secretary. Please do not have the same illusions that I did that your opinion might matter to anyone - they don't ever ask for artisan opinions. Please don't have the impression that the 'secret' correspondent forum is going to give you some insight as to what the devs are planning for our profession - I still have absolutely no idea. You are a secretary, that's it - nothing more.

I personally feel that I will be able to contribute to the discussion as a poster in general discussion - than I will ever be able to do as a correspondent. And that is exactly what I am going to do. I am going to yell, scream, rant andrave in discussion (something that I am very uncomfortable doing as a correspondent) - the squeaky wheels get the grease, everyone elsedoesn't seem to bea priority.

I have no answers on our gameplay issues, I've had no discussion with the Devs, to tell you the truth, I'm not positive that anyone even knows that there are bugs or issues with our class. If you read the dev tracker, you know as much about what's going on with Artisans as I do. I'd rather just read IT, than have the headache of being an unwanted volunteer.

Apparently, ALL design decisions/discussion goes on behind closed doors in an office in Austin. If they take into accout what we the players think, I could not tell you.

Artisan types are gonna get some love one of these days (so they say) - but apparently not until every combat related issue is resolved, vehicles are out, and every artisan has quit playing as one. Then they'll start the discussion with us - in other words, you'll probably be a Pilot before you're a happy Artisan.

Am I bitter? No not really, just tired of being ignored - as an artisan, and as their correspondent. Am I quitting the game in a huff? Nah, I'm paid through July.

My advice - drop Artisan, and the related professions - pick up some combat skills (doesn't matter which ones - my impression is that they are going to balance everyone into equality). And enjoy some of the things in this game that are fun - because I see no plans to make gameplay for the Artisan types 'fun' anytime in the near future. Leave the crafting to the FS slot grinders, and the uber guilds.

I am sorry that I was unable to get anything accomplished for you as your correspondent, but know that I tried. Go easy on the next one, folks. It's a thankless job, and it takes a thick skin just to log in some days.

OK, I'm gonna go cry now. Thanks a lot to those of you who have been so supportive of me.

You've been a great corrospondant. It's just artisan gets overlooked with all the elite professions problems.

*hats off to you*

aaawwww. i'm so sorry, bianca. i had a feeling that this is what being a correspondant would be like. i didn't think you guys would be privy to inside information. when you want to keep a secret, you tell as few people as you possibly can.

i'm just sorry that you're not getting the feedback the the devs are working on these things.

i forgot to put in my post what a phenomenally great job you've been doing on this end as a correspondant. you were all over everything, and really represented what we wanted. i hope you stick around to scream and rant with me! (although my screaming and ranting usually comes in the form of staid reason ^_^)

I'd be pleased to have at them.

My heart & mind are very much into the future of this game. I complain a lot but honestly I love the structure of the game. HAM is revolutionary. The class balancing is for the most part brilliant. The game world is vast and full of content (screw Penny-Arcade they were dead wrong about this game).

I'm disheartened to hear that the Devs don't have an open dialog with correspondants. I've signed beta and product NDA's before and wouldn't be opposed to doing so here (and not squeaking to the players if appointed).

i only post on a few things in the forum here, but i like the focus discs you've had... its sad to see that this pro is always over looked... honestly i'm sad to see you leave as the pro corr... you've done a far better job than i ever could at it... i don't even want to try lol...

i commend you for the job that you have done and for going out of your way trying to find a replacement, i know a few other forums didn't have a corr for months at a time

I can just see a "Wait for the Combat Revamp" and "Wait for the Smuggler Revamp" quote all rolled into one.

...and just so you know you've well surpassed my expectations. Your general issues thread was everything we needed.

Being a TKA I applied for brawler correspondant, and noted that at the time I wouldn't dream of taking over Artisan since you have done such a great job.

If you're ready to pass the torch I'd love to be considered, but there's plenty of others to look into. The person selected for Brawler correspondant did a great job analyzing the elite profession changes for players not on Test Center.

Do we have a current status? Now that mounts & cities are out I'm sure that we can give the Devs some feedback on merchant tents, mounts, city taxes & such.
