This is why artisians are always complaining about being broke. Why sell for 50K when the buyer is willing to pay 100K? CH took advantage of the opportunity on mounts but artisians are blowing their gold mine just to have "competitive" prices. So what if it only cost you 4K to mine 50K. The guy selling resources on the bazaar for 6-8 cpu has the same harvester costs as you. With the prices out there now you'd make more money just selling the resources. Who would have thought a class could actually lose money on their most popular item.

I got 100k for a speederbike just after the server came up, I had gotten a cold tell and picked that price out of the air. The guy didn't argue a bit, even though I indicated I was soft on the price, though he did flinch a bit. I think I should have priced it higher, couldn't be on much this am.

Your prices will probably look reasonable by the weekend, when more artisans have been on.

Don't worry about the folks who think they are doing good by selling at prices below the market for the resources, buy from them and resell if you have the chance.

You need to stop buying from the bazaar. Prices there are whacked.

absolutely nothing wrong with competition...and i should have been a lot more specific but i was giving a ballpark estimate. Today I saw a guy in Moenia selling speeder bikes for 18k. I dont know how he can afford that. If you can afford to sell a vehicle for say 30k versus my say 35k, fine....but serious undercutting sucks.

that may be after today with the recent news that on my server almost every vendor has sold out of resources. However, this afternoon I managed to buy close to 35k worth of 800+ SR steel at approximately 4cpu. That allowed me to drop my swoops to 35k....a 3k profit

how about 75 85 95... 3k profit get real is it even worth the time? I could be master artisan with pistol 1 and make more... these prices are a wee bit low, I think reasonable prices are 60 70 80 for the vehicles, but I cant imagine these people selling for 12k or 20 a pop were making squat for profit....

They go for volume vs a high profit on one item. Overall though you can get far better bang for the buck by selling the resources over making items.

Juddafett,

Looking at your example in the first post, your prices are reasonable, but...

I harvest my own resources. My cost per unit is around .4 credits.

I normally make most of my money selling resources to architects, etc. My price 2.5 to 3 cpu. At 3 cpu I am making 750% profit... So I decide with the rush on vehicles I can charge between 4 and 5 cpu for the vehicle. For example, an X34 takes 4250 resources * .4 cpu = 1700 credits to make a X34. I sell it at 20k. This is a 1,176% profit. or 18.3k per vehicle.

Before you flame my math, Let me say that I use BER 9 medium harvesters and I have a BER 16 and BER 13 Fusion that I put on 70%+ radiactive spots. I am also a master merchant so all my harvesters operate with a 20% savings on costs.

Could I have sold vehicles for 100k each, maybe. But as it was I sold 40+ in just a couple of hours, didn't leave the house, didn't have to stand on a street corner yelling, just craft a dozen, load them on the vendor in the next room, rinse, repeat. When I logged off I had 2 left on the vendor.

So to recap, I used up approx. 220k resources, cost to me= 88,000 credits. My gross for the day 1,060,000. Net Profit = 972,000. Just a smidge shy of a million. Not a bad days work, especially for 3 hours.

ps- as to the comment on CH's making tons of money on mounts. I don't know anyone who paid for a mount. I have had 2, both for free. No one in my guild nor, for that matter, in our city paid for a mount that I am aware of.

Today I saw someone selling Swwopbikes for 15k, and speeders for 12k. It made me sick. I am asking for Artisans to come together to put a price fix on vehicles so that we arent getting robber anymore by some of these eBayers. This is on Valcyn but a large group of us master artisans are setting prices as follows:

Swoopbikes- 50k

Speederbikes- 45k

Landspeeders- 35k

Before you suggest the prices being too steep look at this logic: The swoopbike requires 8000 units to make. Today I bought steel and copper at 5cpu from bazaar. To break even I would have to sell a swoop for 40k. The swoops I experiment with and get Great Successes usually. 50k isnt an unreasonable price if you look at it this way.

Business is competitive, get used to it.
Price fixing is communistic, are you some kind of far left liberal or something?

I am sorry but it only took me 4k credits to mine the 50k of metals that I will be using for the vehicles, I am sorry to under cut you, but my profit margin will allow me to sell at a lower price.

Its called competition, not gauging...

It made me sick today also... The prices of what some of these people were charging were below what I could just bulk sell the resources for....

Now every noob has one and Anchorhead and Bestine are parkinglots for ghost ships...

Weaponsmiths and artisans use the very same metals we used today and dont often go less then 30cpu

here we are trying to sell at 2-6cpu ??

what the hell is wrong with us ?

Bah, fixed pricing is for the weak and uncompettitive. Frankly I sold my vehicles based entirely on what people were buying at the time, NOT what resources I had to use to make them.

First and foremost, I did make sure I'd cut a profit one way or the other.

After that, I found out what people were buying, the vast majority of people were picking up speeder bikes, followed by x34s, then swoops. (At least this was the case on Theed, Kauri Server)

So I sold my vehicles for the following.

Speeder Bikes (90% or higher): 50k

Speeder Bikes (89% or lower): 40k

X34 (90% or higher): 40k

x34 (89% or lower): 35k

Swoop (90% or higher): 30k

Swoop (89% or lower): 27.5k

I made a great amount of money this way, go with demand, not what takes the most to build. That's my two cents.
