Thread: Pricing in general
With the hot topic the last couple of days being vehicles and vehicle pricing, and people arguing that the can still make money selling for less than this guy, I would like to propose the arguement, are you making enough money?
A) The pricing of resources should be based on the following; the cost in time for you to sample the resources manually vs. the amount of money a combat class can make doing missions over the same period of time less their related costs(cloning, healing, weapons); if you are pricing lower then you are hurting the new artisans that are trying to join the game.
B) Just because you are running a field of heavy harvestors and its costing you less than 1cpu for materials, does not mean that you are making money selling for 3 cpu, there was the initial capital investment that you have to account for and because of this you should be making more money not compensating for your customers that think your products are too expensive.
C) What are you giving up in order to gather the materials to make these vehicles? there are many high quality current resources that will without a doubt sell for more than 3cpu in the future.
D) There are plenty of other products that can be made in the artisan tree that sell well for me in the 30-60cpu range, and not a soul seems to be interested in competing with me? Look on you local bazaar if stuff isn't available make it! If someone is selling at an high margin compete with them!
I'm only making vehicles for my guild members because it seems the economy is severelybroken in this game
PS Not condoning riping people off, just fair prices you make money; I make money; newbie makes money all are happy ![]()
good point! Yeah man as a newbie tailor I made more money selling black hide boots then anything else. People will pay up to 1k for those boots! Thats how I got all my merchant XP, as a newb i sold em for 200cr, then raised to 400cr, then 800cr and finally 1k. I felt bad charging anything over 1k and figured they wouldnt sell anymore. Now when i feel nice i sell for 600cr.
Those and clothing repair kits sell well.
Ifele> I sold 20 at 60k yesterday. (1.2 million, 880k proffit)
Player> Who's selling vehicles?
Artisan> Sorry I'm out of metal.
Ifele> Swoop for 60k
Player> Deal
The fact is that demand is super high and if you're not taking advantage of it then you're wasting your time.
My 8 heavy harvesters were paid for months ago, so I don't even include them in cost calculations any more. Heck, they were paid for with my sales of Chitin armor as a newbie armorsmith....
I harvest my own fusion power, I harvest my own resources. Time? Not much at all, especially with the mounts and now vehicles. I ran to my steel harvesters last night....5 min round trip that used to take me 30 and kill me half the time.....
Skill? Yeah, vehicles are a Master Artisan thing, but I still think they should have been left in Eng IV. The schematic is dirt simple and I made 60+ vehicles in under an hour last night. They could have at least required some of the MA components like mico-sensor suites or something, but these are the beginning vehicles so...
I'm tired of commenting on this. If you think 5cpu is too low, then you aren't a very good crafter/business man, since 5cpu is 17 times what it cost me to pull the resource from the ground....

Did you even read my post
Having you heavies should entitle you to make a better profit; not compensate for your lack of business sense
I'm sure that you are making a tonne of money selling at low prices but you are preventing the new artisans that are not as well established from making any money
Its one thing to make a little money in this game; its quite another to ruin a noobschance to make some too!
And just because you brought it up vehicles should have been there own profession or at least given to droid engineers; this would have preventedmost of the rich elite crafters from swooping in and turning vehicles into nothing more than a comodity
