It makes your range much larger to have the survey line so you don't waste as much time and stats on surveying because you can scan longer distances.

Thats it?

I can walk out, as a n00b artisan, find and mine the best resouces on the server with NO skill? Whats the point of the survey line? Greater range? bleh....I thought it was to give you the ability to mine the better resources...as in you could only find/mine OQ resources of 200-400 at survey 1, 400-600 @ II, 600-800 @ III, and 800-1000 at IV. whata fool I am.....

Having Survey 4 saves you ahuge amount of time in finding the best places to Sample and/or place Harvesters.

Plus with Survey1 you may think you are on the highest percentage spawn in a particular area but just a short distance away, but out of your range, is a much better spawn.

Whilst not everyone can spare the points to go all the way, I'd certainly recommendSurvey 4if you're frequently going to be collecting a lot of resources.

I find the spawn layouts tend to look like hills and valleys and being at the top (highest percentage point) of one hill doesn't mean there's not another hill just over the next valley (just to be clear - that's valley in terms of percentage spawn not a valley in the topography of the land).

I agree - Survey IV is a huge help... What I am working up currently is the Force Sensitve Heightened Senses Survey tree... The first box is +5 to survey so I don't see a change yet to my abilities.

Has anyone made it up this tree under Heightened Senses? From the descriptions on the different levels its sounds promising, however I am unsure as to the actual application of the new skills of an extra +20 to survey.

TIA

Unless they changed something about surveying you get your max tool range with surveying IV......so unless you plan to drop IV for some reason then the FS line seems like a bit of a waste.

/agree

I will still attempt to climb the Heightened senses tree and report findings unless someone else has already done so or know any further information.

**Edited to add what I found from another post**

"384 meters with survey 4 + fs survey, just look at any survey tool. they go out to that range."

....So we'll see if that still holds true.... hopefully the devs will add something more than just another 64m to survey range..... for 4 Skill Boxes of grinding..... we'll see
