I have just got Engineering 4, and i am wondering what peoples opinions are on the most rewarding elite profession to get from here? Options are Weaponsmith, Architect, Armoursmith (or Armorsmith), Shipwright, Droid Engineer.

The way i see it: Weapon/Armorsmith are popular choices, money to be made etc.
Architect - it seems there isn't much of a requirement for these, but i could be wrong
Shipwright - JTL doesn't seem to have taken off (no pun intended) as much as it could have done
Droid Engineer - On the face of it, looks like fun, but could be dull.

Opinions would be greatly appreciated

All professions in my opinion will make you money

Shipwright is expensive to grind and i do agree with you thet JTL did not make a large impact on the game

Arhitect is a resource intensive profession, but as lots decreased and storage increased you may find there will be an increase in sells. moreover a lot of players i know from my server is giving up this profession

Weaponsmith/armorsmith is the choice of profession to do but you also need to think about the competition out there if you are in it for the cash.

DE: it is an interesting profession, and the R3-det droids do produce a high income.

I hope these comments will help you to choose your elite profession

It's a good question and the answer really just depends on what you like to do. Personally, I've tried a little bit of just about every crafting profession and I've enjoyed them all. I stick with artisan because of the diversity within the profession itself, but also because it leaves me plenty of skill points to play around with other professions as well. Anyway, the following list is simply my take on each of the elite crafting professions.

Armorsmith & Weaponsmith - These are the two professions that every newbie crafter who just wants to get rich quick is drawn to. It never works out that way. Generally, those crafters who try to get into these professions just for the money never even make it to master. Both professions require very specific high quality resources in order to be competitive; those resources can take months to accumulate. That said, both of these professions can be a ton of fun if you enjoy crafting. Be prepared for never ending questions from people about armor/weapons and for a constant struggle to make sure you always have the newest and greatest resources.

Architect - The quantity of resources requiredis vast. So too are the number ofcomponents that you have to make. Resource quality isn't such a big deal for the most part. For many things, such as houses and furniture, you can just use whatever low quality stuff you can get your hands on. Most servers are fairly well covered with architects, but as long as you're passionate about it and can really keep your vendors well stocked, you'll do well. The biggest drawback to the architect profession is the lack of repeat business. Nothing you build ever wears out, consequently, sales can be quite slow at times.

Shipwright- I think you're more or less on target with this one. Shipwright had its one week of fame and then burned out. I know a few people who made a ton of money from shipwright, a smallerfew who are still making money, and a great number of people who lostsmall fortunes trying to grind out the profession as fast as possible. This is the only elite crafting profession I've never tried, but from what I hear reverse engineering space loot will be your worst nightmare.

Droid Engineer - This is my favorite elite crafting profession. DE will most likely not make you rich, however after the CU goes live there may be an increased demand for combat droids, so you never know. This profession requires a decent volume of resources, but unlike AS and WS, quality is generally not a factor. The biggest complaint about DE has got to be the components. You need a ton of components, both DE and master artisan made. For this reason many people will actually keep master DE and master artisan just to save the money and time it would take to order their components from a master artisan. That being said, I like DE because of the amount of customization that goes into droids. The choice is totally yours whether you turn the R3 unit you're building into a peaceful crafting droid or a deadly bomb on wheels. There are so many possible combinations available to you that it's almost impossible to keep a vendor stocked with one of everything because someone may want a particular droid combination that never would have occured to you.

I won't go into chef or tailor since you didn't ask about those, but if you're interested don't hesitate to ask!

Good luck in whatever field you choose!
