Hey gamers,

One Question: What is the best combination of professions in Star Wars Galaxies? I always have trouble with the number of skill points.

Greetings,

Depends what you think you'll like to do.

Theres too much of a wide variety to say what the exact best combination are.. however I find that...

Any type of fighter, you'll want Novice scout and Exploration 1-4. Also having at least Novice Medic will help out.

With Crafters, you dont need to Master Artisan first... it will help you out however. Surveying is important for Crafters also.

My current characters are...

Master Artisan, Master Merchant, Explorer(Nov Scout /w Exp4), Novice Two-Handed Swordsman(Brawler 2h Swords4).

and...

Master Marksman, Teras Kasi Student(Brawler Unarmred 4), Scout - Exploration 3, Medic - First Aid 4

so it really depends on what you plan on doing in the game.

or you could just go for Jedi/Sith

Rebel Colonel, Jedi
Defarious Stryko
Rebel Colonel, Trader
Defintus Stryko
Rebel Colonel, Commando
Defillios Stryko

Well I'm TKM/Master Doc I chose this because obviously I can Buff my self, and not depending on a person who might not be there when I need em. SO with these 2 profession i can make a butt load of money.

I would recommend a ranged profession to go with tkm if you are looking for pve. Lots of creatures like to take off running if they are about to die and its frustrating trying to chase them down.

Ok I have been playing the game for awhile and all the combat is starting to bore me so I want to do a crafting profession. I tried DE and I just can't get into the grind what so ever plus I would do weaponsmith but I got a friend doing that sono reason for me to do it to,so I was wondering what crafting profession would fit me. Here is kind of what I am looking for:

1.Something even at novice is useful (can wear, makes me look cool, something I can use, etc.)

2.Something easy on the grind

3.Something that makes some ok cash

4.Something that resources aren't going to be live or die on

5.(optional)Something which can make you stand out from the rest if possible

6.Something where I don't only have one thing to grind that gives good xp

Hopefully there is a profession that suits me. I just want something that I can really enjoy. I also right now have engineering 4 and can get to any of the profession in artisan in an hour or so, so the grind up to novice anything is easy. Thanks in advance.

I heard that chef was pretty useful even at the beginning levels. Any crafting profession you can be unique as well as long as you experiment with what you can craft to make better then normal. The only thing left is Architect, Armorsmith, Tailer, and merchant but im guessing you obviously already knew that.

Merchant just can sell stuff(they have lots of vendors, can put up a special tent, and gets reduced fees for owning houses and putting things on bazaar).

Armorsmith you can build really good armor all the way up to composite. Alot of room here to set yourself apart and really find the right ocmbination of resources to make a really good armor that will make you extremely rich.

Tailer is you can build special ability clothes that give boosts to peoples stats. Tailers also build padding and stuff for armorsmiths even at a low level so they may be useful even as a beginner. Plus they might get alot of buisness just becuase people want to look cool, or need a specially built color shirt or something that boost a specific stat.

Architect you can build the biggest of buildings and the smallest of houses. You can build factories and heavy harvestors and all the furniture and stuff to go in everything you build. Again useful obviously in that people want to decorate their homes with something unique and build HUGE guild halls and whatnot.

Id say if you were going to pick one you cant really lose. You could get lucky and have a good buisness early on or get unlucky and not be able to sell anything ever. Its a game of chance but realistically any crafter profession is usually always needed except droid engineer.

And use macros for grinding past the beginning stages. If you need one let me know.

Here is kind of what I am looking for:

1.Something even at novice is useful (can wear, makes me look cool, something I can use, etc.)

Everything gives you *something* - You're not really going to be able to 'sell' anything you make at novice - but you will get stuff that meets your criteria in any of the elite crafting professions.

2.Something easy on the grind

Not to burst your bubble - be DE is one of the easiest elite crafting professions there is, with the exception of architect. If you felt that grind was too horrific - are you sure crafting is for you?

We have a post in the DE forum that goes something like this "I just mastered DE in two days but I don't know how to make anything - please help" Perhaps you should focus less on the grind and more on mastering the profession that you choose. You find something that interests you, not just something that is 'easy' and stick with it.

3.Something that makes some ok cash

All of them make 'ok' cash once you master and can produce a product worthy of having. The trick, as noted above, is to thorougly understand your profession and get the edge on the 4 bajillion hologrinding idiots who are flooding the market with their cheap crap. Bring on Publish 10!

4.Something that resources aren't going to be live or die on

Again, you're in for a disappointment. This is a game where the end product is directly related to the materials you use. Garbage in - garbage out. You can't whack any old crap ore into a harvester and expect a 13BER mineral harvester to pop out the other side. Same with droids, same with food, same with weapons, same with armor. Tailor I have no played with so I am not sure - but if you plan on doing any Bio-Engineered clothing - same is true there as well. We're crafters, man - we DO live and die by our resources.

5.(optional)Something which can make you stand out from the rest if possible

Not sure what you mean - but 120000 activeplayers - give or take - and a handful of professions. Not sure how you are going to stand out - other than by delivering to your customers an excellent product in a timely manner for a reasonable cost.

6.Something where I don't only have one thing to grind that gives good xp

See my remarks about grinding above. Every profession has items that give good xp and poor xp in the context of it's own self. Doctors are always gonna get mediocre xp compared to architects who can get a whopping 6.5k per item. But you need to take things slowly, build a stock of resources, look for a customer base and understand your profession. Rocketing to the top of an elite profession is less of a battle, in my opion, that mastering the rest of the things mentioned here.

Hopefully there is a profession that suits me. I just want something that I can really enjoy. I also right now have engineering 4 and can get to any of the profession in artisan in an hour or so, so the grind up to novice anything is easy. Thanks in advance.

Well on DE no droid really gets useful till you get to the combat droids and high level medic and crafting station droids. MSE droids aren't even fun to have around enless you want an annoying beeping box following you around. Plus it isn't the grind to master that I want to be easy I just want something I guess that is actually fun to grind.

I don't know which other crafting profession I will try yet. I would like a macro though so I can craft faster when I am just grinding and not just playing around with experimenting and things like that.
