Your general crafting tool, pistol, 2 survey tools, and some more food are in the safety deposit box at the bank. You have to use the radial menu to get to it (if you didn't know).
Not sure why they do it that way now, hope this helps.

I noticed that when I went through the tutorial, I didn't even come out with a gun. But when I deleted and recreated my character (a Bothan) and skipped the tutorial, I got everything I need.

There is still a little weirdness going from the tutorial to your starting location.

If you look in the bank safety deposit on the space station during the tutorial you will see your starting equipment, except for the clothes you are wearing. I always take out my GCT and weapons so I have them for later on and store the food I get from the crate in the bank with the nector and other stuff I don't need right away. When I got down to the planet, all the food I had put in the bank was back in my inventory. Luckily, my GCT and weapons were still with me. This exact same thing used to happen to me in beta as well.

I guess the point us, join a bank right away in your starting city and set up your inventory and storageas you want for your character. One of these days I'm going to create a marksman, forget about the bankand walk out of town with nothing but the clothes on my back and some hard bread and oranges to throw atall the badies.

And if you do hybrid, start as artisan so you have the crafting tools.

This also happened to me in Beta with a marksman. Landed in Bestine with no food or weapons. Lucked out and someone was giving away CDEF Pistols. A few days later I was purchasing a travel pack and still had the bug where you had to have 0 inventory. So I open up the safety deposit box in Bestine... and guess what was there... starting pistol and food

It may be a bug, but I think it's probably not-fully-realizedattempt to keep people from creating a new character, and then trading away all of their starting equipment and credits and deleting the character. If you have to go to the bank, it takes away from the value of this exploitable tactic.

heh nothing you get from creating a new character is realy worth much. the most profit you get out of deleating and remakeing is the credits as the rest of the stuff is worthless. missions are far faster methods of geting creds than restarting over and over for the newbie creds.

To Upgrade something implies that you are adding too, enhancing, and fixing the thing that you are upgrading. The CU does not do this, it is not adding too, enhancing, or fixing the combat system that is in place, it is replacing the innovative SWG system with the generic one used by its competitors. Be honest and stop calling it the CU, Call it the CR (combat replacement) instead
