Thread: I want to know how much to spent, not for saving money but helping economy
Rent,
That is a very noble idea... I can only tell you what I have experienced over the last three days as an artisan. I have put 3 or 4 CDEF Rifles up for sale at the bazzar. 1 for 85 1 for 70 1 for 50 and 1 for 35... The only one that sold was the 35cr Rifle.... So I made a wopping 15cr on the sale. I think maybe the key is to buy it directly from the crafter... I know I highlevel weaponsmith that is doing just fine.... Starting out is kind of difficult. Support the new crafters if you are new...
If you come to Correlia on Flurry server look me up

Actually, you lost money if you only sold 1 riffle at 35
20 to list each one, 60cr. made 35 back, net loss of 25c

My suggestion would be to SHOPQUALITY. I am currently playing an artisan-scout. I decided I wanted the ability to harvest bone and hide for crafting bone armor. I also enjoy taking a break from the craft grind for a few days at a time and do some missions. As such, I make AND BUY on the bazaar since I have found the carbine to be my weapon of choice.
I still am surprised by quality of products. Better yetI amSHOCKED. I can only make CDEF grade weapons as I am through the engineering tree and half way to novice weaponsmith.A *well crafted* carbine is a rarity on the bazaar in spite of ALL the posts I read abouthow crafterscan't sell anything. Same thing with pistols. I can make a custom CDEF pistol which has better stats than any D-18 I've seen posted on the bazaar. Now granted, some ofthe betterD-18's may get scarfed up, but a lot of the 700-800 credit D-18's are sitting around for while. As for rifles, on my server there seems to be more overall quality available but it still isn't great.
So, look carefully at stats. There is no reason to buy a generic CDEF at ANY price. What I mean by generic, is the baseline stats that come from just humping one out with whatever metals are easiest to mine. You will find that if you take the time to lookfor a weapon with the top stats, you will see thatthey are generallyfairly priced. A good artisan will find the best possible metals andtake the time to customize theweapon. Don't be fooled by fancy names like "Joe's Uber Carbine" selling for 500 credits. Inevitably, I'll click on these and look at the stats and have a good chuckle.
I'm still not conviced the economy is screwed up. I've hadno problem selling quality products. But I'm not "powering" to Novice Weaponsmith by any means. Finding the right metals and petros and customizing is time consuming. Particularly in light of resource rotations.A weapon crafter is faced withkinda two choices. Hump out 1000 muzzles or barrels or whatever and fill 25slots on thebazaar, or take a slower route through customization and experimentation. Afterdaily trips to the bazaar,it's obvious the former is the rule. I took the later route. I've learned a ton of stuff about how to make a better weapon and most of what is on the bazaar is NOT.
I don't support any price support on most of what I see as weapons on the bazaar. They don't sell because they shouldn't sell.
I don't want to hijack this thread or anything, but itbrings up a huge question I have. I do not understand exactly how to match up which materials are best for manufacturing which items. Is there a list of which materials have which properties? Or do I just have to scout around until I have a little bit of each material, then compare and contrast their different values using 'examine'? Or do I actually have to craft the same item using different materials and see which is best?
Good question- i'd love to hear the answer to that as well (but I'd also love to know the color of the starting shirt I'm so desperate for info) so you start off with what - 200cr? And a decent pistol costs me about 300 and most materials will cost about 15 (in the beginning?) is this right? Thank you all!
btw: Char will be either Drethen or Dugor on the starsider or eclipse server ![]()
Kasuta,
For which metals to use in what here is the general rule...
Look at the experiment percentages....
Example:
For a CDEF its 50% quality and 50% something else....
For this with the choice of steel/aluminum/or copper the best is Copper... better quality and something else ratio....
For weapons like an axe Steel or Iron would be better b/c they are stronger metals....
Hope that helps a little bit.. the best way is to check see what the item requires... then check your materials to see what has the best of those stats.
As far as pricing and the bazzar:
I don't think the economy is screwed up... I made those 3 rifles experimenting to figure out if combining different metals into the 2 different metal slots on a rifle would make a difference in stats... so I had extra rifles and didn't want to jsut destroy them... so I put them up for sale to test the waters on what a valid price was....
So that brings the question what is the normal price for a CDEF Rifle, with slightly better than normal stats?
And yes I know I spent 60cr and only made 35cr but those other Rifles are still up for sale and could have netted me some nice cash as we speak
And to whom ever was asking about starting cost... you start with a blaster so don't worry about it. you start out with plenty of stuff....
Oh and artisan/scout/marksman to start is a good idea... as someoneelse stated.

Consider the materials I'd say more in the high 50's to low 60cr range.....
Selling it for 35cr is selling at a loss..... figure about 2 or 3 cr per resource
I personally think anything under 3c is a loss. It might only take 1c to run a havestors for it, but my time to go out and run to all my havestors is worth something to me. I don't do all that work for free, therefore a 2c increase for mining. Then if you craft something with that add a little more onto it. between 1-3c usually, although I've seen weaponsmiths at 12c/resource.
All those prices are understandable. It has more to deal with the getting of the resources than anything else. IF you have to travel to 3 different planets to collect 15 different resources for a few guns your going to sell them for more than 5c/resource. Well, at least I would.
Hard to give an exact price since in 2 weeks it could be totally different. Right now I would expect to pay 5c/resource for stuctures 10c/resource for weapons/armor. Haven't a clue on droids since I haven't seen many higher ones and I'm not that high myself. Stuctures tend to just take a huge amount of resources instead of small amounts of a lot of rare ones like weapons. There are some exceptions in stuctures but the bulk of any major stucture will be 1 resource.
Permethrin, I agree and disagree with what you are saying. I agree that people should look for quality, but I disagree that the economy is jacked.
I think much of artisan woes could be ended if the developers fixed the flawed bazaar interface. For one, Premium sales don't work, even if the developers say they do, they aren't worth my money because my items still get buried. There needs to be a more robust filtering system and even a search engine built into the bazaar. Allow customers of the bazaar to filter/sort based on stats (damage, speed, range [everything experimentation effects]), crafter, and weapon name. Fix it so a CDEF Rifle can have it's own name, but remain a CDEF Rifle as far as the filter/search engine is concerned. (Come on now developers, it's all in a database, the info is there, it's just a matter of manipulation!) I don't expect people to have to filter though 20 pages of un-modded CDEF rifles to get to mine. Allow them to sort by what they are looking for, the best for the price they can afford.
In my opinion, this would fix many of the problems we Artisans are facing. Allow a more robust filtering of items, and make Premium Sales either stand out or give them a separate tab on the interface. After all, one doesn'tgo to Wal-Mart looking fortop-of-the-line electronics!
This economy is an open market. You don't have to do anything to help it, it will be just fine. Get whatever you can for your goods, pay whatever you feel is appropriate for what you buy. Since a monopoly, or serious collusion cannot effect the economy (except for these first few weeks) there is no need to attempt to 'fix' prices. YOU will be undercut.
The market will settle into reliable patterns very soon.
