Since you're going to need them anyway, the best thing for you to produce is surveying units and crafting stations. You'll need chemical, wind, and water surveying devices, as well as crafting stations for Gen/Weap/Droid, Clothing/Armor, and Structure/Furniture. Most of these only require you to get metal and other minerals, which aren't too hard to find.

After you've got those, you can just keep making those (since they give a decent amount of crafting XP), or make other things, like weapons, clothing, and food. If you make weapons, be sure you're close to a gen/weap/droid public crafting station, and use the gen/weap/droid crafting tool. This way you'll be able to run experiments on it, which can increase their damage, range, or whatever you want to play around with.

The crafting devices give decent exp, but weapon powerups seems like an easier route. They only cost 10 resources [6 min and 4 chem] but give 40 exp each. Not the most, but that's a 4 to 1 exp value. That's what I did to get higher professions. Hope it helps, good luck in getting to the Elite Professions.
