Is it me or are the mobs camping harvesters now sincetodays patch? I could not find a path to any of my harvesters without getting aggro'd (/con Instant Death). Are there any combat squads for rent fairly cheap?

I had to log off this evening since I was getting repetitive incapacitation and was surrounded (hooked a left while in burstRun when I should have turned right I guess). All my harvesters (in different places) were covered with aggressive humanoids. I know! I'll put one of those yellow bulbs on each one

Seriously, what are other folks doing to deal with this. Suggestions?

Ya I noticed that too. You could give people a bit of the harvested resources if they agree to keep mobs off you long enough for you to get the goods and get out.

i just got this today, with my FIRST harvester. now, im a brawler mainly but i cant kill half a dozen red thugs hanging around my chemical plant. they really need to either change this, or invent some 'enemy be gone' attatchment to it or something

A couple suggestions:

1) Try later, as you know mobs move and/or change over time.

2) Sometimes, approaching VERY slowly prevents aggro. I can't back that up with any Dev statements, but I can verify it works for me.

I go prone and crawl in and that usually works. If I get aggroed by something too tough, I hop up and burst run to safety.

Mobs start spawning where there is a lot of traffic. Set a harvester down somewhere and start running around it and the mobs will eventually spawn.

I talked about this on another thread.

Just today, I was trying to get back to my harvesters, and have to avoid like ten groups of hostile mobs to get there. In addition, I had to crawl in prone position to actually get to the harvester without having the hostile jerks start coming after me after just spotting me out of the corner of their eye from 70m away.

There are times I can't even get close to them and have to come back later. I'm not sure if they did this on purpose (with putting hostile mobs near harvesters), but it's making obtaining materials and, more importantly, keeping the extractors up with power and cash. If you can't get near it, you can't pay maintanence or supply them with juice.

When they made the patch to shut off harvesters when they're under 100% maintanence, they should've made it so only neutral mobs spawn on or around harvester areas.

I think the moral of this discussion is that crafters are not necessarily cut out to get their own resources. I think a lot of the recent developments in resource gathering are leading to the emergence of miners, or combat surveyors. I'm one of them. . . I'm a scout, so I have Mask Scent, and a pretty good shot with a rifle.

Two nights ago on Talus, there were a bunch of aggressive Lost Aqualish Commandos around my wind harvester. As I was gathering the power, one of them started shooting at me. I ran to get some distance between us, tumbled to prone, took cover, and battled it out. He was yellow con, but I won, and got the rest of my power without incident. A pure crafter would not have had a chance.

I don't think there's anything to fix here. The harvesters are located in the middle of the wilderness. Aggressive mosters spawn in the wilderness.

There should be some risk associated with going to get your resources. If there were a guaranteed safety zone, what would be the point of valuable resources on the advanced planets? Is a herd of rancors really going to get up and leave because they see a harvester?

If you're a pure artisan, you might want to think about putting up havesters close to town for what you can find there, and contracting with a miner for the others. I know I would be willing to lower my prices significantly for a regular contract.

I got a story for you. Happened last night.

Headed to my friends house on Tattooine to put up a gas harvester for our group. I know the area well, or so I thought. I had some dialog boxes open when I heard the combat music start up. I wasn't alarmed at first because bugs aggro a lot but easy kills. When I cleared my screen I saw a "Weak Mercenary" shooting at me and he wasted me no time flat AND killed me.

Ok, that's cool, no biggie. I'm a bit ill but I'll go back and bypass him.

Here I ago again and now i see him on my radar. I keep a good distance from him and make it to the house. I set up the extractor. I'm preparing to put money and power into itwhen all of a sudden here comes the Greedo wannabe again. He was hitting hard 300-600 a pop. I ran into the house and was safe, again, so I thought.

I was in combat mode for 15 minutes, could not craft, could not do anything. I messaged my friend and told him I needed help. He told me to log and come back and he wouldn't be aggro anymore. SoI usethe desiremethod of exiting (not /quit)

---Intermission---

10 Minutes later:

I log in to hear combat music and he's still on me!
I tell my friend to bring a posse, a big one.
He brings two other guys lol.
I'm not sure but I think we all died at one point.

There is a happy ending though. The mob would NOT untarget me. I was inside and my friends were outside on a hill, they sniped him until he died. I'm sure it could be seen asan exploit but then again, a mob that will not untarget me is pretty **edit** buggy. We were forced for desperate measures and that was ourwindow of opportunity. I still took nearly 2 minutes to kill him. We finished him off and proceeded to /stomp on him. I sent it tobugs for the hell of it. The whole ordeal cost 45 minutes of gameplay.

It's pretty funny now, but I hope this doesn't become commonplace.

In a large canyon on Tatooine just north of Mos Entha I built two wind generators. This was on Monday. At the time, there was nothing. It was nice. By Wednesday, someone had planted two more wind generators next to mine. Yesterday, there were two more. Not only that, but the Tuskans had apparently decided all of those wind generators were nice to look at. I managed toget to by wind generators by approaching from the opposite direction and walking up to them, keeping the Tuskan directly opposite from me across the generator.

After I preformed maintenance and gathered my resources, I noticed something else. Not only were Tuskans there, but there was also a benign employee of Jabba's that had started a camp at the canyon floor near the generators. And on ledge that protruded out halfway up the canyon wall, there was a new Imperial camp with medic droid that was recruiting!

I don't know if that has to do with anything, but that sure was weird.

I have been very patient with artisans so far, having just reached Eng. Level III today I decided to make a personal mining harvester and wind power generater. I scouted out an area that had a good supply of my choice minerals and set to work... I made sure it was in an area that i could reach(being straight up crafter i have no combat skill). sat in the area sampling for about 45 min to make sure that there wasnt a spawn that i couldnt deal with. After being satisfied i could manage i built my first harvester and power generator. payed the fees and was happy.... happy for about 3 minutes. Suddenly 4 red pop on my radar and i look around to find i am surounded by Female and Male Plains Tusk Cats, all con insta-death to me.. you have got to be kidding, not only does it cost me ever credit i have earned in the last 4 days just to make the harvester and generator work for one day, now i have to be incappacitaed just to get fruits of my investments. Some one please tell me this is an unexpected result of a fix to another problem and that the dev's have added this to there to do list?
