Heres my way around the annoying nature of the harvester maintence and still managing to be a casual gamer. Save up enough credits over time for a week or so of harvester/power generatormaintence. Make some harvesters and a power generator. Find a sweet spot and mine it till you have enough maintence money left to get the deed back to repeat the process. Use the resources to make some items for friends/strangers or sell what the market will buy, and of course grind for the xp. This will take longer and other professions like marskman or other weapons specialities may be necessary to support this, but there is a dream to get to top right? These skill points can always be sold back and other crafting skill can be bought and supported by the more advanced crafting skills when you get good enough for folks to want your stuff. Of course it will take time. Eventually I will have the skill to sell items that will allow me to manage harvesters around the clock. Even in real life everyone needs some other job to support them while they develop a product/buisness that the market will want. It may take longer but I will eventually be wasabi tako the sought after weaponsmith/armorsmith/rifleman from corellia.

The only problem with this idea is that resources move. Putting a week's worth of money and power into a harvester is a good way to lose 4 days' maintenance money when the well runs dry two days after you placed it.

I wish it weren't this way, but this is why I have to attend my machines every other day. I put in 48 hours' maintenance and power when I can, and let them run 2 days. That way I never lose more than a day's worth of costs in a bad scenario. But it does keep my running all over Naboo, I'll tell you that.

Accualy, a few harvesters are a casual gamer's best friend...

I can run a set of missions between 2 cities on Naboo to get the creds to maintain 2 harvesters and a wind generator for a day. that should be enough to keep you afloat, resource-wise, certainly cheaper that trying to buy all your resources off the bazar.

My solution to moving resources? I check my survey device and wait until just after the most recent resource reshuffle. I trust what the devs say and believe that eventually the resources will shuffle on a semi-predictable basis. A five day pre-pay at the beginning of the next shuffle so far has worked for me.

I haven't paid enough attention, but it seems to me that the shifts don't all happen at once. I saw one resource shift one day, and another one shifted the next. Then a day later, a new one popped up but no old one had gone (at least in the same area).

Is this what you're seeing? I suppose if we can be sure that a newly popped up resource will stay at least a week, that would be nice.
