Thread: Survey mission payout

It seems to me that a survey missions' payout should be determined not by the combat strength of the individual but rather by his level of surveying/crafting. It does not seemlogical that one would receive higher paying survey missions by equipping a better weapon. If it is a 'survey' mission, a 'surveyor' or a master artisan should receive a better payout than a master bounty hunter.

Strange, I don't see this happening. I log my artisan with Eng and Surv IV, I get max payout of 900. I log my Novice Carabineer(same server, city, terminal), equip my Elite Carbine, and get a max of 900.

My master artisan/smuggler gets 900 maximum with no weapon equipped and 1800 maximum withhis weapon equipped.

Well just logged and tried all three of my accounts using varying weapons equipped on two combat-centric characters and my artisan and still got a max of 900 on the same terminal, *although* the frequency of higher-paying missions was higher with a better weapon equipped. This was in Theed if it makes a difference.

Headed back to work...I will try different locales when I get back to see if I can get higher payouts to show themselves..

I've also found that I get much better payouts when my pistol is equipped. I get about 800-900 max without pistol and about 1800 max with pistol equipped. IMO, survey missions are very easy money. I wouldn't be surprised if they get whacked with a nerf-stick eventually (not that I want them to get nerfed).

I would never expect anyone to do as I suggest, but I do suggest you run these missions until your sick of them, then run some more. I have, and don't have to worry about money anymore.

I must not be getting something (for survey missions), but when it says you must be within 512 meteres of the mission giver, how the heck are we suppose to find the mission giver? And even if we do find them, what if the resource they want isn't 512 meters? How are you suppose to accomplish the mission? Am I reading it wrong?

You have to be at least 512m away from the mission giver, the mission giver is the mission terminal from where you pulled the mission.

I know this is a little off topic, sorry, but....

Toaso how did you get 2 chars. on the same server? You are only supposed to be able to put 1 char on the surver. When I tried a few weeks back it said "You may not put more than one charecter on a surver" or something to that effect. Just curious as to how you got past it?

I don't know if it's the type of weapon specifically that boosts it up. It may be skill with the weapon or a combination of the two. I am using a T20a rifle and up until today my max payout was 900. I got rifle specialist today and all of a sudden the payouts are doubled and require more specific resources be found.

My brother, myself, and my friend all have Engineering IV & Survey IV. I'm of the opinion none of them matter. What matters is this: If you have Novice+ in an Artisan-based elite profession.

I have Novice+ in Architect & Merchant (also Pistoleer).
My brother has Architect & Tailor (no Marksman at all).
My friend has Marksman (Rifle III, Pistol III, Support III).

I get 1800 payouts witha weapon, my brother gets 1800 payouts with a weapon, and my friend gets 900s with a weapon. You must be an elite artisan, folks.
