Thread: Effectiveness of crafting kits/crafting stations?

Does anyone know exactly what effect the rating on the crafting kit has on normal crafting of items? I would assume it's a modifier for effectiveness, aka reducing critical failures and increasing amazing successes, but I cannot confirm or deny this.

And what about crafting stations? Is it like houses where it really doesn't matter much, or does their rating (as well as the additional components) matter?

Thanks in advance

This is my impression, so far, and while not a scientific test, i've been keeping an eye out...

The first combine depends soley on your materials (and probably your base skill modifiers like artisan assembly)...it does not matter if I'm at a crafting station in town, my own crafting station, one that has a negative rating or when i'm crafting away from a station...the same item created with the same materials gives me the same starting statistics as long as it's not a crit failure.

Now, I have indeed found that I have BASICALLY the same rate of crit failures (I would like to say that I have less..but i have not determined if it's the stations or quirkiness of the servers. Sometimes I can create 20 items with no crit fails, sometimes I can only create 3 or 4 in between, regardless of where I am).

However, when I'm near my good station (well, decent anyway..it's 12.5something)..if it's not a critical fail, i either get a great success when experimenting or an amazing success. I never ever get just success, good success, moderate failure, etc anymore...only crit fail, great success or amazing success.

Is this because of the station? Is it because of my assembly and experimentation mods? We can have a thousand tests on this but we will never know unless the devs tell us exactly how assembly and experimentation is crit fails is intended to work.

As far as I'm concerned, if I have a good station, great skill mods and great materials, I should never ever ever get a critical failure on an item with a complexity well below that of my abilities....NEVER EVER EVER. For instance i have only one more box to fill (dom arts 4) before i can start working towards master artisan. I should never fail on a survey device or a crafting tool. Never. I should sometimes make an inferior product, but i should never outright fail on it.

Yes the effectiveness of crafting tools and crafting stations effect your experimentation success. They also effect how high you can experiment to. That is to say you can’t reach the maximum experimental limits with low effectiveness tools and stations.

Right now the effectiveness of crafting tools and stations has no effect on how often you have critical failures.
