Thread: Having a problem destroying harvesters.
I have a couple (8)flora harvesters I need to destory and when I try it says "You must first empty the hopper to destroy the harvester or reclaim the deed". Or something to that effect. So I emptied the hopper. Tried again. Same message. There is 0 power in the harvester and the maintenance pool is 0. I checked the hopper and in there is the resource I was sampling with a 0 quantity. Harvester is turned off.
So i got to playing around with it and tried to turn it on. "There is no power available" is the message I got and the condition was at 83%. I put one unit of power in and tried to turn it on. It gave me a failure (due to the condition) and I checked the hopper and the resource is gone. It allowed me to destroy the harvester at this point. Only problem is that I have about5 more harvesters at 100% condition and I still have a maintenance pool in those and I REALLY dont want to wait on the maintenance pool to run out before I can destroy them and build my new harvesters.
Anyone experienced this? Any suggestions?
This is apparently a bug caused by the harvester having resource get zeroed (by removing it obviously), but leaving the "resource crate" (for lack of a better word) in the hopper. Some methods I've seen to remove this:
Use the "dump hopper" button. This is pretty hit-or-miss, but some claims it has worked for them.
Re-start the harvester, wait for it to gather 1 or 2 units. Turn the harvester off, then retrieve the resources. I've found that retrieving resources while the harvester is running can cause the zero unit "crate" to remain. Personally, I think this is because while gathering resources it internally tracks to several decimal places, but retrieval is doneonly by whole numbers. Soif a harvester's rate is 1.2 per minute, after one minute one unit can be removed, but the 0.2 still remains so after4 moreminutes you'd have5 units available (5 minutes* 1.2 - 1 removed). Turning the harvester off after gathering 1 or more resource truncates those decimals.
Trying to start while damaged probably also resets this state.
This one really **explitive deleted** me off for a long time untilI found out how to fix it.
Turn the harvester on... wait for one or more units to be created... turn harvester off... retrive or dump hopper... reclaim deed...
This one really needs to be addressed when / if the harvesters get thier code revamped / reviewed
