Thread: Are the sampling popups random or is there some way to avoid them?

I know why they are there I guess....but I like to start and do little things around the house. Right now I always seem to alt/tab from the forums into a stupid little popup box that's been there for the last 5 minutes wasting time.

Anyone know a way around this? I cant really complain about it much since I guess it keeps miners honest but I'd still like to know regardless

I think someone needs to make a hack to close the message box if there isnt any kind of pattern or way to keep them from poping up, but thats just my opinion.

You need to create a cycling macro that defeates the pop-ups. Most macros I have seen people write have a character /sample for 300 seconds or more. However, your chances of actually sampling for 300 seconds straight with no pop-ups is pretty slim.

Here is my macro. This badboy can cycle endlessly, and totally bypasses the popup. You must start this while standing, and it is wise to do so at full HAM:

------------------

/sample

/pause 5

/stand

/sit

/pause 24

/stand

/ui action toolbarSlot 00

-------------------

NOTE: The last line is case sensitive it must read exactly as I typed it above.

What this will do is 1) take a sample of the last material you /sampled, 2) pause for 5 seconds to allow the sampling to complete. 3) make the character stand from the kneeling position (you MUST do this or the marco will not function). 4) Make you sit for faster regen. 5) pause for 24 seconds so that you can regenerate the Action and Mind used up in the Sample. 6) Stand back up. 7) Clicks the toolbar button that corresponds to the F1 key (the upper left most button), thus repeating the Macro.

To make it work, put the Icon in the F1 slot on the toolbar and let it rip! You will never run out of HAM, and every 30 seconds or so it cycles, thus defeating the Pop-ups! When you want it to stop, just drag the Icon to another empty toolbar slot. When it tries to cycle again, the f1 slot will be empty and the macro ends.

Also, the '/pause 24' line is a variable you can change to reflect how long it takes you to completely regen your Mind and Action bars. For me this is 24 seconds. For you, this number might be shorter or longer, so you should probably test it some.

I let it run while I sleep or go to work sometimes heh. On a good spot (say 85% or so) you can expect to rake in 4k units in about6 hours.

I am glad to see that the pop-up has a defeat. Although I am not a fan of AFK sampling, last night I saw a need for it.

I was in Theed and took a survey mission asking for a metal of 66% or higher. I whipped out my trusty mineral survey tool, right in front of the mission terminal, and started going down the list of metals, surveying each. Carbieme copper gave me a good hit so I started running to the high spot. When I got out of town about 1km I hit an 87% concentration; took a couple samples and looked at the quality. WOW!... nice $*!#! I wanted to lay down an extractor but it was a no build zone . Thinking that 'OK the build zone must be near here', I started moving further away from town. By the time I hit a build zone, the concentration dropped to less than 10%.

So AFK sampling is necessary if one needs to get a decent qty of a good resource. Thanks for this tip.

hey dejn thanks for the great macro but one question, i have it setup as

/sample;

/pause 5;

/stand;

/sit;

/pause 30;

/stand;

/ui action toolbarSlot 23;

but i think after the amount of times i pasted it goes through he stops sampling is there any way to make it to be a loop so it wont stop? or am i doing something wrong?

/sample;/pause 5;/stand;/sit;/pause 24;/stand;/ui action toolbarSlot23;

Try that no space between Slot and 23.

pretty cool, and to make it stop all you have to do is take the macro out of the F1 spot, no more exiting the game.

How could this thread of only gotten 4 stars?!?!?

Jmoan,

There is no need to paste it over and over. The last line (the /ui one) will make the macro repeat itself, assuming the Icon is in the correct slot. Going left to right, the toolbar is numbered 00 for the F1 slot, all the way to 11 for the F12 slot. I believe the second set of slots start at 12.

So basically, just make sure the Icon is in the correct slot. You had it set for 23, so the Icon needs to be in the lower right corner slot of your toolbar.

Oh and I think Micro was right. There's no space between the toolbarSlot and the number (I was writing that macro from memory, heh. oops). It should read:

/ui action toolbarSlot00

Sorry about that.

hmm, for some reason that /ui action toolbarslot00 does not work

anyone with macro expertise that can help me with this? I have in the first slot(F1) on the 6th toolbar, could that be an issue? Does it have to be on the first toolbar?

The word toolbarSlot must appear exactly as I wrote it here (with a capitol S, lowercase everything else). It won't work otherwise.

/ui action toolbarSlot00

I hope that solves the problem!
