Thread: Mail from Devs 8-27-03
I recieved this mail this morning. I will be creating on the test server so that I can test Artisan changes first hand and report back to both all of you and the devs. I will endover to test as much as I can but my play time is limited for the next several months lol and I need to care for my regular toon also ![]()
First we would like to thank you for your continuing patience. The
Correspondent program is trying a while to get up to speed. As soon as we
get our new internal contact hired, things will get much better. Until then,
thanks for putting up with our irregular contact.
One of your requests that we would like to honor asap is for special Test
Center characters. Please create a character on Test Center and email us the
name of that character. In the next week or so, we will place special
terminals on Test Center to allow your character to get experience in the
profession your represent. We still don't want to give free xp to any player
on Test Center because it allows players to bypass playing the game to see
the higher end stuff. However, we want to make an exception in your case
because clearly you have earned your skills in your profession and also
there is a ton of value to you checking our fixes to your profession first
hand.
Again, thanks for bearing with us during this difficult time.

I am glad they are giving the correspondents test bumps. Its a good *start* to developing a good test process.
Personallly, I refuseto waste my time on the test server until they provide a character copy mechanism to that server. Until they provide a mechanism for large scale testing of patches by giving large numbers ofplayers access to them, the patches will continue to have the same "quality" we have experienced since the start of beta.
Lack of agood testing program has really hurt this game.
You have been doing great work, I am glad you are our correspondent.
Regards,
Artuk
Good deal. I agree with Artuk. I'll play on TC if I know my character is safe and sound on Bria.
If you get a chance, ask what the Nemoidian Birdcage does... ![]()
I hope they do more of this in the future, it's hard to test changes to an advanced profession when noone plays on test enough to get that level
Since your play time is limited, is there a chance you'd take on an assistant correspondant who can also get copied to help you out?
I'm not volunteering, btw, I don't have the time either. But I'm sure it would be helpful and appreciated if we had another person to help with the testing.
